The hotel itself is pristine, with a really modern, stylish lobby, good ambiance and very comfortable rooms. The restaurant is outstanding, both my breakfast and lunch there were definitely among the best meals I had on my trip.
However I have one minor and one major gripe which caused me to give it 4 stars:
Minor gripe: when checking in, they quoted me a higher rate than was clearly available by booking using Tripadvisor, and it took an unnecessary amount of arm twisting (to the point I suggested canceling the reservation I'd just made at the desk so I could rebook at the lower rate right in front of them on my iPhone) to get them to to match the rate. This happened twice, once when I first checked in and again when I wanted to extend my stay one night.
Now my major gripe: I find it beyond absurd that this hotel sees fit to CHARGE for the internet on top of the already astronomical room rate. Earth to hotel management: it's the year 2014, the internet is a free commodity. Starbucks gives it away for free so you can too. The craziest thing is they will tell you they have free internet, when in fact there is a screen when you try and log in which explains that simply checking email is free, but tasks like downloading or streaming will cost you. How do they accomplish this? By limiting your bandwidth unless you pay, so that in fact even "free" tasks like checking email are appallingly slow until you are literally annoyed into paying. Not only that, but the interface they use to try and milk these few extra dollars from you is glitchy and I had a problem many times logging on with my Mac. All in all, a complete joke which would make me stay away from a return visit to this hotel.
