Wife and I stayed three-nights at Hotel Bel-Air, making a long and leisurely weekend of a visit to Los Angeles. There are countless hotels in the LA area, many with distinguished reputations and providing excellent service, but Hotel Bel-Air exhibits these same qualities while also feeling more like an exclusive resort or private residence, which is unique. The grounds are impeccable, lush, walkable and the whole property itself seems like the destination more so than just a nice and luxurious home base while in the area. Service well lived up to its top-notch reputation, and we were very impressed with both the restaurant and bar offerings. High quality dining and service experience across the board. The one morning we chose room service, food arrived 15 minutes early and was setup on our private patio. Seriously, how often does room service show up early?!?! Pretty amazing!
A few constructive tips. All parking at Hotel Bel-Air is valet, which was quite expensive. I want to say it was $50/day or thereabouts. We knew this going in, so wasn't much of an issue for us since we had that expectation. Retrieval of your vehicle was fast and easy, and the valet staff were polite and very welcoming. Like I said, just something to know before you arrive. We booked through the American Express FHR program. We received complimentary breakfast for two each morning up to $75/room. Breakfast was a highlight at Hotel Bel-Air, but it's honestly kind of difficult to spend under this amount for two people by the time you add coffee, orange juice and maybe a side of protein to your breakfast selection. Our average daily breakfast bill was $100, and I don't feel like we over-ordered. We also received a $100 spa credit during our stay, which we used and would recommend. Unfortunately, we didn't receive a room upgrade. While not a guaranteed benefit, we thought one should have been extended. To the credit of Hotel Bel-Air, this matter was discussed and satisfactorily resolved with the hotel manager, who I can't say enough good things about.
This resort is very focused on guest experience and establishing themselves as one of the best hotels in the entire country, which I believe they are executing on. No hotel or property or anything in life is perfect, but Hotel Bel-Air genuinely strives to achieve that goal. We will be coming back to experience this exquisite property again.
