Our son uses these suites when he stays in LA for 2 month work projects. He suggested we should stay here instead of one of the more expensive hotels as we wanted to be overlooking the beach and save money.
If you want to experience the Venice Beach vibe in clean lovely surroundings, with efficient staff then this is the place for you. Randy does his best to make your stay comfortable. Yes it is 6minutes walk to the car park (not 15 like some say) but it is free so no complaints. This is NOT a hotel and it is unfair to compare, it just the most relaxing place with a lovely roof terrace where you can cook and watch the sunset. This is your own "apartment", with big fridge and cooking facilities. There are also many places to eat walking distance away and some beautiful food. In June the temperature was fine without aircon. If you want 5* then do not choose this. If you like eclectic mix of life DEFINITELY choose to stay here. This was our final stop on a 2 week tour and the perfect end to our trip - only 15 - 20 mins from LAX.

Room Tip: they recommend if you do not want anyone in a room above you to ask for top floor

I stayed in a studio suite which worked as I was in LA on business. Location is great if you want to be right on the Venice Boardwalk. Literally a step out the front entrance. The property is very secure but does have lots of homeless around the back alley and camping out at the beach in front of hotel. Expect to see this as this just part of Venice and no one ever bothered me. There are also lots of artists along the boardwalk. The view from the rooftop of Venice Suites is spectacular. There are lounge chairs, gas grill and a cooking area on top. Worth enjoying the view from up there.
Room had a kitchen. Only draw back was no frying pan and no coffee. Bring your own coffee, sugar etc and pick up a bag of ice if you wish to have cold drinks. You could hear the music on Venice but the noise subsided around 10pm. I always travel with ear plugs just in case. My only gripe was the parking. You have to unload in the side parking lot of hotel and then drive to a separate location about 7 short blocks away. If you are staying for a longer stay I suggest doing your heavier grocery shopping before you check in and off loading with luggage before going to garage. For the location this property was a good deal. It's not fancy but functional. Set up more like an apartment. No maid service unless you pay extra. If you want to experience Venice this is a great spot. Beaches are gorgeous

First of all Ocean Front may be a bit more expensive, but WORTH it. You can people watch through the windows… And if you’ve been to Venice Beach you know that people watching is half the fun. There is also no AC and opening the windows to the ocean breeze is amazing. We stayed in one of the studio (not ocean front) rooms. It was nice, but fairly warm during the day and this was in March. We met some people staying in a one bedroom beach front and loved it (there were four people staying in it).

Go to the store and purchase your own booze, food and ice. There are restaurants in walking distance but none of the close ones serve liquor, only beer and wine. The best place to make your drinks is on the roof-top patio! It has a large grill and kitchen area. We brought vodka and mixers and grilled steaks on the roof. It’s a great way to spend an evening… There are large plush chairs and views of the beach. There is not an ice maker on property, but there is a super small store less than a block away on the back road.

Don’t worry about packing too much as there are washers and dryers on-site. Luckily they’re right by the roof-top patio, so you can still enjoy your time while doing laundry.

Parking is kind of far away but you can drop your bags off at the back of the hotel. We had a bit of confusion checking in as it is not a typical hotel, you basically open a lock box at the front of the hotel to get your keys out. The keys also open the doors to the hotel, so don’t forget one or you’re basically locked out.

There is also not housekeeping service, which means you have to clean-up after yourself (not fun on a vacation). You also do not get fresh towels everyday so make sure you hang yours up or you’ll be using damp towels.

Basically this is a great place to stay for an “apartment” type of stay. If you're used to fancy hotels and tons of service this probably is not the place for you.

Room Tip: Beach Front all the way.

I recently spent a month at Venice Suites for a work/vacation assignment. My stay was marvellous. I found the accommodations clean and very comfortable. Randy was incredibly helpful and always available for any issues. I changed suites half way through my stay to accommodate a family visit and this was done easily and was great fun! Venice suites is suitable for any aged traveller from seniors to small children. The building is very secure and quiet. I felt very safe at all times. One is able to enjoy the eclectic atmosphere right outside the front door yet be in a very safe environment . For a worry free and very central spot, believe me Venice Suites is the place! I would recommend this spot to anyone and would definitely stay here again!

We found this property online and booked it since it had such stellar reviews on Trip Advisor. Booking was a bit tricky as you have to sign a very binding contract and fax it back to confirm your booking. Not the easiest if you're already travelling. However, check-in was really easy, straight forward and even though there isn't parking beside the building it was quite easy to find and really close to the hotel.

We stayed in a studio and the suite itself is modern and clean; aside from the incredibly dusty wall which we cleaned ourselves. The rooftop patio is a definite bonus and we were more then happy to take advantage of that! All and all they've done a really good job on the layout of the suite and all the renovations within the hotel.

However, there are some downfalls... One is that there's not a lot of soundproofing as you would expect from an older building. You definitely run the risk of keeping your upstairs neighbours hours which in our case was pretty much all night for most of our stay. The second is that there is no housekeeping which is definitely something you'd expect if you're spending $1000 for a week. If we wanted our room cleaned we had to pre-arrange it at a cost of $30 which I found strange.

All and all the place was great but personally t I don't think it's somewhere I'd stay again.

Hi LindsayDarling,

Thank you for your review and for your recent stay with us here at Venice Beach.
We provide unique housing accommodations for guests that desire an alternative to a conventional hotel experience.
We are an extended stay property and are best suited for guests who are looking for private furnished self contained apartments (with full kitchens) on the beach for a stay of two weeks or longer; though we are happy to accommodate guests who want to stay for shorter stays as well. We provide weekly maid and housekeeping service and all linens and towels are replaced at that time. For our guests who wish to have extra housekeeping service we will provide it for an additional $30.00 fee. We also provide a coin-operated laundry room if you prefer to launder your towels in between housekeeping visits.
We provide an easy check-in and check-out service; your key cards are in a designated lock box when you arrive, when you leave simply drop off the key cards in the office mail slot. Your credit card will be charged upon arrival and the receipt is left at your apartment. To provide this feature we require, in advance, a signed contract which authorizes us to bill your credit card for the apartment which you are renting for a specified number of nights.
We have installed beautiful hardwood floors in all of our apartments. This is a great alternative to sand filled carpets here at the beach. For guests concerned about the noise transmission through the hardwood floors we highly recommend renting one of the 4th (top) floor units.
I make all attempts to revise and simplify the “Information Packet” which explains all of our policies and procedures, including the ones outlined above. I email this packet to all of our guests prior to their arrival to inform them or our specialized services. I am sorry if you misunderstood some of these details prior to your arrival.

Sincerely,
Randy
Manager

In LA, my home town, I always stay at Venice Suites. This was my fifth visit. My suite, as always, was clean and decorated in attractive midcentury modern taste. The view from the living room window was just was I needed after this tough winter in New York: sand, ocean, palm tree, lifeguard stand, sea birds, sky.

Venice Suites is not a hotel; it is not the Ritz-Carlton or the Hilton or even the Travelodge. There is no porter, room service, business center, gift shop, etc. Instead, you will enjoy staying in your own apartment with a comfortable living room and a bedroom with spacious walk-in closet, a furnished kitchenette with dishwasher, microwave, etc. (buy food at a local supermarket and make your own breakfasts and lunches). The parking lot, an underground garage on Main and Navy, in the same building as Chaya Venice restaurant and Exhale Yoga (two places I enjoy very much), is a ten-minute walk away. I am a 64-year-old female and travel solo. I often get back late at night and have never felt afraid walking back from the garage.

Venice Suites is right on Ocean Front Walk, which especially on a sunny weekend day, is one of the great venues of the world for people-watching and participating in activities including biking (bike rental places everywhere, skateboards too), swimming, surfing, walking -- on the beach or on the boardwalk -- shopping, eating, drinking, and interacting with the various friendly characters who live and earn their living around here. However, don't stay here if the following things offend you: drumming, loud music, tattoos, counterculture people, people of color, stands with people selling their homemade arts and crafts items. If you can enjoy this scene, rather than gawking at it, you will be happy here.

One other word of advice: don't confuse this property with the dumpy Venice Beach Suites, down the boardwalk about quarter of a mile, which I checked into by mistake the first time I came here. Venice Suites' manager Randy was very helpful getting me re-situated.

Room Tip: Reserve early and get a beachfront room.
