“Fun design hotel, amazing staff, great location and reasonable price.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 May 2014

I lucked out when I chose this hotel. After a long, bumpy flight from NJ and L.A. traffic, the staff greeted me with a warm smile ... and free booze! The staff was real personable and knowledgeable about what to do nearby. I like to stay at funky, design hotels when I travel solo because they are family free and more to my tastes, but I would say this is a great place to stay with a family. It's retro 50s/60s pastel motel for the modern age. Little quirky nick-knacks and wall paintings. Spacious room for a single traveller. Great location right across from Farmer's Market for a quick breakfast. Within walking distance of a few destinations (art museum, car museum, Canter's Deli) The valets were great when taking my rental.

As we were travelling with our six year old daughter we needed a hotel that we could relax in. The location was fantastic with the Farmers Market just across the road - this meant that we had access to a huge variety of fresh food at all times. The Grove shopping experience is also just a very short stroll and other shopping areas ie: Melrose and the Beverley Centre were also just a short taxi trip (approx US$7). The staff were really friendly and were happy to organise day trips, my husband really enjoyed the "tastings" each afternoon in the reception area and our little girl loved the pool and floating ducks. We really enjoyed our meal at "Tart" restaurant being able to select a number of really tasty sharing plates, sit outside, relax and enjoy the music which seems to play all the time. The rooms have an interesting decor but they are very comfortable and everything worked, the bathrooms basic, but the showers were excellent. You could not describe this hotel as luxurious - it is very much quirky in a funky sort of way. There is absolutely no pretentiousness about this hotel, it is what it is and It really worked for us, we cannot wait to go back and are already planning our next trip.

Stayed here for a media event that was being held at the hotel. You can see the bones of the hotel and what it used to be like, but the kitschy updates to turn it into a boutique hotel actually are pretty cool and unique. Beds very comfortable, so was the furniture, but some areas cheap out a little bit -- my room wasn't sealed all that well against outside noise, so I heard every truck that passed on the street through the cracks around the door, and the towels were a bit on the economy-hotel side of the plushness scale. They also heavily perfume the rooms, smells like someone's stuffed a dozen AirWicks in the air conditioning unit. Still, can't beat the location and the staff were universally friendly. Prices reasonable too, I wouldn't mind staying here again.

Thank you for taking the time out of schedule to write a review, it is appreciated.

I am glad to read that you liked mostly everything about the room.
We are in the middle of a complete refresh on the the rooms, the model room has already been completed and fully tested with just a tremendous amount of positive feedback.

The smell in your room is a scent stick that we put in the rooms once per month. The smell is the strongest on the first day. What I have been telling the staff to do is to leave them out of the box for a day and then drop them in the room as that tends to calm them a bit.
It reads as though the staff did not do this, I will talk with them today about that.

Safe travels and we look forward to hosting you again.

Loved my stay here. Farmer's Daughter was recommended to me by a local. It suited me perfectly. Very clean. Great beds. Quiet. Fun environment.. Relaxed and social yet professional. Ten minute walk to a good gym. Half hour drive to Venice beach. Right in the heart of West Hollywood and all the sites and shopping that comes with it. The staff were fantastic. Always friendly and professional. You do need to keep in mind that there is an extra charge for parking/valet. About $24.00 per day.

Room Tip: The King suite is positioned very well. Very large, firm comfortable bed.

As a regular business traveler, this hotel was one of the best I've had the pleasure of staying in. I discovered this hidden gem by accident, after dining at their adjoining restaurant, Tart, a few weeks ago for Sunday brunch. After having a positive experience at Tart (great food and great service) I decided to book a night at the hotel to celebrate an upcoming anniversary.

From the moment we walked into the hotel we felt welcomed immediately. The lobby was quaint and well situated. We were greeted at the front desk by the receptionist, J'Nai and the resident birds (Hall and Oates). J'nai was very warm and wished us a Happy Anniversary. She expedited our check in, gave us an overview of the hotel, and extended an invitation to the complimentary Whiskey tasting in the lobby later that evening.

We booked the Robin Room, which we later learned is the first newly renovated room at the hotel. The room was absolutely amazing! The floor was made of beautifully polished cement. As soon as we walked in we were met with a large cascading mirror, and we were welcomed by a fruit and cheese platter, a bottle of champagne, and a nice card wishing us a Happy Anniversary. The bathroom mirror included an integrated bluetooth speaker that allowed us to connect our phones and play music. An added bonus! The room was full of unique amenities; a refreshing change from the usual minibar fare.

The whiskey tasting in the hotel lobby was hosted by the restaurant manager, Ashley, who was very nice and made sure our glasses were replenished regularly. Every interaction we had with staff at this hotel was a pleasant one. Each staff member greeted and interacted with us as though we were a VIP. If you are looking for a nice getaway in the heart of LA, you can't go wrong with Farmer's Daughter!!!

Room Tip: Try the renovated Red Robin room and make sure to stop into their adjoining restaurant, Tart, for a...

The Farmer's Daughter is a old property that has been given a major facelift with a difference: New paint and furnishings can only take a place so far, so the FD settled on a rustic theme with a nudge that it's really hipper than all that - and it is. The room was not large, but scrupulously clean, with a comfortable bed, refrigerator, a safe, and desk. The air conditioner was quiet and efficient. The front desk staff were pleasant and welcoming. The small courtyard is a pleasant place to unwind with a drink or a meal from the on-site restaurant, Tart.
Directly across the street is The Farmers' Market, a must visit (with an appetite). Next to that is The Grove, a large open air mall, but a real shopper should explore all the little shops around the hotel on Third, Fairfax, Melrose, and Beverly. And if you enjoy good eating, besides Tart, try some of the locals: BLD, Animal, Son of a Gun, Mozza, Joan's on Third, Mud Hen Tavern... Just start walking and bring an appetite.
A couple of small things kept me from giving The Farmer's Daughter 5 stars: no drawers in the room, so we lived out of our suitcase and the small closet. Valet parking is a bit dear, but was convenient, and every hotel in LA seems to charge for parking.
All in all, this is a nice property in a great location. We'll be back.

This is basically a Spartan-like hotel wrapped in a hip, country like theme. The floors are essentially bare with a few warn rugs thrown in, towels are thin, the room was tired and very basic.
It was not what I was expecting.

Room Tip: Quirky works for some but not for me

I am sad you did not like the design of the hotel but I do understand that not everyone will like it, though I hope they do :)
