“Great museum in a gorgeous venue”
Reviewed 31 August 2014

We visited the museum on a Saturday around 6 pm the museum is open lat on Saturday nights, but unbeknownst to us they had a live concert at 6:30 which made getting to the museum more crowded. The museum sits atop a hill with sweeping views of LA. You can take a tram or walk to the top. The museum itself is free, there is also a free audioguide as well. We saw Van Gogh's irises as well as several other Impressionist pieces. Walking around the museum which is composed of several travertine marble buildings was incredible. Hard to imagine that this was JP Getty's personal collection. Do not miss it.

“Visit This one especially if you've only got time for one art museum”
Reviewed 31 August 2014

I had visited the Getty Villa a number of years ago -while there were building the Getty Center.
We spent 3 hours and probably could have used a few more hours if time allowed. Pack a lunch and make a day of it...and do also visit the Villa!

“Wow is Putting it Mildly”

The art, the architecture, the views, the restaurant. It was all great. Get there early as parking can be slow as the garage fills up. Lunch was phenomenal. Bring a camera! You can take pictures of almost everything with no flash.

“Outstanding”
Reviewed 31 August 2014 via mobile

Visited with 11 and 12 year old children who were enthralled.

Location is outstanding, architecture mind blowing and art collections outstanding as you would expect.

Free iPod tours really help engage younger budding art experts and are useful for parents too. Gardens lovely and relaxing and food/beverage offerings what you would expect in price/quality from top class locations in London/New York/Paris etc.

Only planned to spend 2-3 hours there but spent 4 1/2 hours there and had barely covered 1/3 of what was on offer. Definitely on our must do return list!

“Great Views”

From the art, to the building, to the gardens and the views of the city, make this a stop when visiting LA.
