“Korean hotel. Won't come back.”
Reviewed 8 May 2014 via mobile

PROS:
Free parking underneath, well situated, restaurants, supermarkets and theater near by, free wifi.

CONS:
Noisy hotel and street, dirty and poorly maintained building and rooms (dirty carpets, mold, tapestry ripping off, broken things everywhere, dirty and spotted bed sheets, etc...), no breakfast included (but options available).

The hotel website photos look like a 4-star hotel and our room was barely a one-star. The hotel is dated and dilapidated. The carpet looks like original from 40 years ago. The facility is run down. Our room had a queen size bed, a dresser and a small table, We could barely move. The bathroom plumbing barely functioned.

It is a Korean hotel. Customer service was not present. I had to ask for a mattress pad for the bed. They use their parking lot for local events and charge 10.00. So when I get back to park at night. There is one spot left on the very bottom of the parking deck and I walk forever in the dark. I has laundry done and it was returned in the same condition. Not even washed. Gross.

We stayed here two nights so we could tour around Hollywood. The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious. They had a nice parking place (hard to find in many Hollywood area places). This hotel is in Korea Town area, and mostly run by Koreans. Very friendly and helpful staff. No breakfast, but places nearby, within walking distance. Grocery store just across the street, and a Sizzler Restaurant also within walking. The best part was the metro was within sight, so we parked the car and took the subway everywhere. Easy getting around that way. It was a tad pricier with taxes and add-ons than we'd normally like to pay, but given the area, it was not unreasonable.

The hotel was fantastique, everything, the staff, suite, location across the street from The Wiltern Theater, parking, no complaints whatsoever. I have no idea what some of the negative reviews I've seen online are based on. One of the best hotel stays I've ever had, in 5 countries. We stayed in a fantastique suite on the 2nd floor #227 so I can't comment about all the negativity about standard rooms I've seen here and on other sites about this hotel. Our suite was clean, spacious, at $228 I thought reasonable for L.A. and the convenience of being across the street from our concert, no worries about driving and parking, plus the parking is FREE for guests at The Garden Suites. Remember you get what you pay for so if you book the cheapest standard room don't expect a palace, anywhere you go. The suite has 2 king beds, one of them in a separate room, the other is in the main room with table/chairs, small sofa, TV, refrigerator. There were 4 of us, mothers/adult daughters, it was perfect for us, and would recommend for families or 2-4 friends.

Room Tip: 2nd floor suites

As others have mentioned location is great because the metro stop is at the end of the block which brings you to Hollywood in minutes. People are often surprised at how many metro lines LA has and so this stop is your entry to all of LA. Metro clean, cars clean, did not see any graffiti anywhere. The bus on the corner going down Wilshire will get you to LaBrea Tar Pit Museum as well as the Los Angeles County Art Museum (both great places) Don't be put off be Koreatown location. Not a rundown area, has many tall office buildings. I thought generally decor attractive. Room clean but not big. It is obvious this hotel caters to Koreans but so what? Clerks are of Korean descent but knowledgeable. Lobby has marble floors and two chandeliers. Lots of Korean restaurants in the area. Drawback may be that there are not more American food places. Denny's two blocks away; also a Sizzler a block away. Coffee shop on corner.

Good location, clean room. stayed with my family. They really enjoyed. Little need to update but the room was very clean. Also, the location was great for us. It is located right in the middle. we could go anywhere in few miles radius.
