“Excellent luxury stay with the upmost professional staff..”
Reviewed 29 August 2013

Well what a great stay at this lovely hotel in downtown los Angeles.. from the moment we arrived we were treated with the upmost professionalism from the front desk staff who took care of our every need from the moment we arrived...
At check in we were kindly taken to the club lounge whilst our room was being prepared as we had arrived early that day and wow what a difference the manner of sincere caring staff make to your stay at this hotel .. from Ashlee the club lounge manager who was wonderful throughout and also troy who was a great person who shared his knowledge of the hotel and the surrounding restaurants etc. which came in very useful indeed.... our room had a very slight tech problem with the air con system and due to this fault the hotel manager which I hope is martin from Germany ?? kindly upgraded us to a suite which was amazing... wow the best views in la and a bottle of champagne to enjoy as well which was kindly sent up that evening for my daughters birthday .... the club lounge daily served up different menu for lunch dinner and always a great selection for breakfast.. the evening was a choice of fine wines cocktails or even the best bud light served ice cold in the glass from troy which was just heaven after a day out sight seeing etc...I keep mentioning troy but all the staff at this unique hotel were all very professional and polite and a pleasure to stay with.. nothing was a problem and nothing could not be taken care off.. the roof top pool was amazing and the spa!! the whole place was simply faultless throughout our stay.. we cant wait to visit los Angeles again soon and there is only one place we will be staying and of course that is the Ritz Carlton la.. thanks again for a great end to a wonderful holiday ..

Room Tip: Hollywood sign view..

This property along with the JW Marriott that is attached are a huge upgrade for the downtown LA Hotel options. Most hotels in downtown are old and tired and should be avoided at all costs. This property is very nice as long as your expectations are not counting on a traditional Ritz hotel. This property is built for the owners of the condos first and for hotel guests second that is the opposite of most Ritz properties. The lobby, number of hotel floors are similar to the Ritz Residences at other locations. JW Marriott better bet if you want a hotel feel.

Thank you Ritz, you are fast becoming my favorite luxury chain. We came for one night to attend a concert at Staples center and had tweens along. From our arrival the service was fantastic, as we were upgraded to a suite because the room wasn't quite ready. Please get the club level. Ashley was wonderful and even sent us special Taylor Swift cookies! Everyone went out of their way to help us and the view was amazing. Quiet and comfortable night's sleep!

Room Tip: Level 24 was very nice.....club level room is well worth it!

Awesome place to stay, from the moment you arrive until departure this place is 5 star! Pretty unbelievable how there can be any negatives.... We were here one night for a concert (Aug 8) at the Staples Center and the location couldn't be better!

Exceptional staff and great location. Next to the Staples center and connected to the Marriott. Absolute best view of the LA skyline is from the Ritz Carlton. We were told the Ritz is the tallest building in LA and I believe that to be accurate. Everything about our stay was perfect: room service, concierge, bell, valet and front desk personal all do a fantastic job.

This location was beautiful. We booked through AMEX FHR, and had a great time. However, you are paying more for the location/parking/amenities. Rooftop pool is one of the best parts. Can you imagine people live here and get to use that everyday?

Staying in Downtown is amazing and being walking distance from everything is really fun. However, we can't really afford to come here very often! But for a splurge it's worth it.

We had booked elsewhere but left before checking in (due to obvious lacking of standards) so chose the Ritz-Carlton as an 'emergency' option while driving as my husband is a Platinum member with Marriott and had points to use. Having experienced the Ritz-Carlton brand in the Middle East & Asia, didn't expect there to be a reason for this hotel to differ in quality and standards, but unfortunately it did. Not luxurious at all, just a standard business hotel feel. Very basic 'lobby', more just a place to wait for your car than anything else. Our room was on the 24th floor, overlooking the Staples Center and the theatre so a nice view. The room was large and well equipped with many amenities, including a Nespresso machine which was great to have. Bed very comfortable with nice linen. Bathroom a good size with double sinks & a walk-in shower, hot water in both the shower and sinks took quite a few minutes to come through. We were only staying one night so really the room was adequate for our needs that night, but overall, the room (and hotel) lacked that 'wow Ritz-Carlton feel' that we have experienced elsewhere. Parking very expensive at $40 overnight. Cheaper options elsewhere, but having arrived in the evening and staying only the night, we couldn't be bothered to look elsewhere.

Always encountered professional and approachable staff, from the Front Desk to the Valet guys.

Didn't have any meals at the hotel, however a quick take-away Starbucks breakfast kept us going until check-out.

Apart from the obvious Staples Center & LA Live, there doesn't seem to be anything in the immediate area. Guess it depends on what you are doing but I personally can't see a reason to stay in this location. The Concierge advised us against walking on the streets from the hotel in the evening due to potential safety concerns. And even on the weekend, the closest freeway had very heavy traffic in both direction so traveling in and out from this hotel to other areas would be inconvenient.

Not really recommended! As mentioned it was fine for our needs for that night (i.e. a clean and safe place to sleep) but definitely not the Ritz-Carlton experience you would imagine if you were wanting to treat yourself.
