“Not a Cookie Cutter hotel....but a Sweet Treat for Sure !!!”
Reviewed 1 September 2014

thank you Betty and Michael....as soon as we walked into the lobby we knew we were going to like this place....We had room #324...a corner room with a vaulted ceiling....lots of windows....and view of Griffith Observatory and the Hollywood sign....A few blocks from Paramount Studios....and a nice Mexican restaurant "Lucy's"..down the street........Betty and Michael had great knowledge and suggestions....you can trust their judgement....Our room was comfortable and the a/c unit covered most of the street noise....from other reviews we expected the small bathroom. but it was just fine and very very clean.....the free parking is a great plus....of course this is a 90 yr hotel but worth the
Sacrifice of a few things we may think of as necessities....(ice machine and telephone)....we hope to come back.....Great photos line the halls....we toured them all.......

Room Tip: Just ask Betty.....

Pros: one of the cheapest hotels you can get in a pretty good location (across the street from Paramount)
-comfy bed
-parking included

Cons: stayed 5 nights, hot water was unreliable. Showered in cold water twice, also got scalded. (Old hotel=old plumbing)
-a basic 2 star hotel
-stuffy, smoky smell, especially if humid/hot in room- keep the AC on!
-tried to relay complaints to the manager (light went out, not hot water) and she never called, took me three times calling and an email to finally get an exasperated response from her.

A reasonably priced hotel, and well situated. We found the staff to be very friendly and informative (especially Michael! Cool guy). Its not the most modern or trendy place in the area, but it has all you'll need.

On a side note: I was on leave from a tour with the army in Lebanon. I met my girlfriend who had flown there from Ireland. I hadn't seen her in 4 months, and I proposed to her the following morning in the hotel room. I couldn't wait for somewhere more romantic ha ha.

As others have mentioned, the bathroom and bathroom sink are TINY (the closet is actually two to three times as big as the bathroom space outside of the tub!) The bed wasn't very comfortable, but our biggest complaint was the room temperature. The tiny window air conditioning unit never got our room comfortably cool, and there was no ceiling fan (or any type of fan) to help it feel cooler. The free parking in the back and the moderate price are nice, but we wouldn't stay here again in hot weather.

Really had no complaints about this place. Location was pretty convenient and parking was free in back. Our room had a perfect view of the Hollywood sign. Bathroom was a little small and needs some updating but overall I would probably stay again.

Room Tip: 3rd floor street side has a great view of the Hollywood sign...

This took the cake, we stayed one night of a three night reservation and my back still hurts from that bed. I was trying to make the best of it since we are saving for our wedding and trying to budget, but when I got out of the shower in the morning I saw a huge bug crawling over the bed and that was it for us, the awful bed, decor like your staying with the weird Aunt that you never like talking to so we immediately packed up and left. The front desk man in the evening was great but the morning was a different story. The woman working didn't believe us about the bug and wanted proof! She was going to charge us to leave early but finally gave up. If you love your family or travel partner run, do not walk to another hotel.(Do yourself a favor and don't stay in Hollywood. We drove all the way down to Laguna Beach and are staying in a perfect Inn right across the street from the ocean, best decision of our trip!)

The room itself was ok, but the bathroom was a joke. The sink was like a tiny thimble hanging on the wall and was very difficult to use even just to wash your hands. The bathroom is very small and you can't turn around without banging into something. The closet was very big which to me was a waste. They should have used some of that space for the bathroom. It was nice that they had a small refrigerator in the room so we could keep drinks cold. I didn't like that they had the fire exit jam packed with spare furniture so you couldn't even get out if there was an emergency. This hotel also doesn't have a pool but it did have parking in the back in a parking lot which was nice.

Room Tip: Go to a different hotel.
