I visited with a group if work colleagues and we were all pleased with our food. The margaritas were super yummy, just a bit expensive. I got the carnita chili rellano and it didn't disappoint.

The menu promised guacamole prepared at the table, which didn't happen. But it was still delectable nonetheless.

Our server was abut slow to our liking. But, to his credit, we were all famished. So he probably wasn't as slow as it seemed at the time.

Thank Leslie P

One word- EPIC! This spot is downstairs from a bar I love (Seven Grand) so its really easy to pop downstairs and grab some grub. I love the tacos with pickle, the salsa is awesome and the margaritas are so fresh! You cant go wrong here.

We have frequented all the top restaurants downtown, but had been hesitant to try this, as it looked like more of a bar with food vs. a restaurant with a bar. Boy, have we been missing out! This tastes like you went to someone's house and had home-made, just-for-you food. Even the beans are as if the portion was made fresh for you, not from a big pot. And the 'soft' chips (you have to ask for them) are really different and addicting. The waiters at other restaurants eat here, and they all recommended the various tacos, and they were right. We have been back 5 times! They also do a 'happy' hour from 4-7pm where you can get lots of small plates to sample the diversity. Upstairs is a totally unexpected whiskey bar/club with pool tables and dark wood paneling, and downstairs it almost looks like a speak-easy/night club that also serves food. Not much on ambiance in the main dining area, but the servers are very pleasant, and the bartenders are first-rate. And the tequila selection is the best I've ever seen!

It should be called "Mas Bueno", not "Mas Malo!" This is one of the more popular haunts in the downtown area on the 7th street "Botega Louie" stretch. We finally had the opportunity to visit this "nouveau" Mexican cuisine restaurant over the July 4th weekend. Usually too crowded to get in on a weekend without reservations, we gave it a try early before the "mobs"showed up. We arrived to see happy faces and we were escorted downstairs into a charming, well appointed eating area that was clean, comfortable with a "techie" contemporary design and decor upgraded from an old jewelry store. The server and hostess were polite, efficient and "spot on." We ordered margaritas (house and the spicey cucumber) and had the eggless cheese chili relleno and the chicken tacos. Fantastic! Flavorful, unique, really outside the norm for innovative, perfectly spicey, balanced and absolutely delicious Mexican food. Loved it. The margaritas were a little above average, but the food was a real treat! We highly recommend that you arrive early or make that reservation. By far, the best Mexican food restaurant in Downtown LA, hands down! And we've eaten at most them!
