“Loved it!”
Reviewed 19 October 2010

We stayed here in May while visiting friends in California. While it could have been improved in some areas, it was worthwhile and the staff were rather friendly.

We're planning on visiting again this December and will be staying there again. Definitely recommend this place for families!!

We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a 2 week trip around southern California.Hotel itself is lovely. We had a junior suite which was clean and comfortable.Bathroom a bit on the small side but clean which to me is much more important. We had no problem sleeping as it was so quiet.I did feel most of the staff were pretty stuck up.This may be due to the name/location of the hotel but my money is just as good as anyone else's and i did feel they looked down their noses at us in our shorts and flip flops!Having said that one of the young girls was very helpful when we asked for directions to The Grove. We took the advice from other reviews and parked opposite the hotel,i do think $28 per day to park at the hotel is a bit over the top.The location is perfect for sightseeing as you are central between Santa Monica beach and Hollywood.I would stay here again without a doubt as it is such good value for money and so clean.

I stayed in a suite in this hotel in August. At first galnce, walking into the lobby, it seemed like a luxurious upscal hotel with roses and everything. Boy, was I was wrong. That night, when we were already in bed, we get a phone call after 11:00 PM, as well as a knock on the door, from room service who apparently had thh wrong room. We also kept hearing people talking outside and doors slamming well into the night. To make matters worse, the guests in the room next to us checked in late and were talking until 4:00 AM. The walls are so thin so it sounded as though they were in our room. I could not sleep until they finally went to bed after 4:00 AM. As I checked out. I told the receptionist behind the front desk of my experience and all she could say was "Sorry" and did not seem surprised as to imply that she knows that the walls and these complaints are common.

We were really disappointed with this hotel and its services. We got robbed when we went out for the day someone broke in and stole our laptops and baggages. The real prioblem that shocked us , was when we called the receptionists and asked them to contact the police yet they DIDN'T DO anything about it. After waitinfg for 4 hrs we called the cops and they said no one had contacted them. THEY DID IT and its a prejidousy on purpose. Now its our time to take actions against this cheap hotel, in which we are hiring an attorney to file a lawsuit and get our things and more.
PLZ NEVER BOOK AT THIS HOTEL,

Dear Valued Guest:

We understand your concern and distress regarding your losses but these are false accusations, an attempt to damage our reputation. Please reveal the true facts about what happened.

First of all, no one broke into the room. As a matter of fact, the guest admitted to the police that they opened the door for a man who claimed he came to fix the Air Conditioning (AC) in their room. He was definitely not an employee of our hotel. The guest claimed there was nothing wrong with their AC…so why would they open the door for a man they did not know and allowed that person to enter their room to fix the AC, which was not broken? Does that make any sense? In addition, what really doesn’t make sense is that the guest left the man inside their room when they decided to leave the hotel. Why would the guests leave someone they did not know inside their room and what was that man doing inside the room?

Secondly, when the guest came to the reception desk to report the alleged theft, we did call the police immediately and reported the incident. Numerous calls were made by management, an attempt to get the police to respond quicker. The hotel was not in control of when the police arrived.

We assure you that no hotel employee was involved and we urge all guest to allow only persons known to the guest to enter the room. We are in full cooperation with the police department regarding this investigation.

Thank you.

Because it is close to where my in-laws live, my wife and I have become regulars at the Beverly Park Plaza. Last year alone, we stayed for multiple days on at least four occasions. Once, due to a death in the family, we recently stayed here for over two weeks.

As noted by other reviewers, this can be a quirky hotel and the service can be inconsistent. However the price is usually right and there are many good things about staying here. Many complaints seem to originate from visitors who have stayed in the annex. We have not stayed in the annex and know enough to ask for a suite in the back and not on Wilshire Blvd.

What we like. We like the suite and the price. I can’t think of anywhere else in the area where you get basically a full one bedroom apartment for that price. Yes, the decore is a bit on the dated side, but it is generally in good shape.

We like the full kitchen facilities. We go to the store before checking in and buy all of our breakfast needs and usually only go to room service for extra coffee. But we’ve also used room service. Room service is ok, not spectacular, but it is sufficient for most snake or “too tired” to go out conditions. You won’t write home about the food, but it isn’t bad either.

We like the cleaning staff. Our rooms have always been very clean and well tended to.

We like the valets. They get to know you, they work hard.

We like the location, walk-able to either Beverly Hills or Westwood. For us, we really don’t have to drive much in LA, which given that it is LA, that is remarkable.

The air conditioning isn’t bad. Can get the room reasonably cold, which is important.

The pool area is inviting. We’ve enjoyed lunch around the pool on a couple of occasions.

We used to think the gym was ok. They recently moved it as part of the remodel. While the equipment is ok, they’ve made it harder to watch tv while on the treadmill than it used to be. Its not bad, just not great.

Some things we haven’t like. While there are some lovely people at the front desk, there are a couple that have quite an attitude. I think they think this hotel is in Beverly Hills catering to the stars instead of being Beverly Hills adjacent catering to people waiting for their plastic surgery to heal, in town for their nephew’s Bar Mitzvah or visiting in-laws. A small matter, but they should get over themselves.

Another complaint. I feel I am a regular. As said, I’ve stayed at this hotel now more than 10 times. When I was there for a funeral – a booked stay of more than two weeks – I was given a note around day 10 asking me to come down and settle my bill. Seriously, they knew we were in town for a funeral. They knew that we’d stayed there multiple times. Indeed, we were scheduled to stay there again in just over a month at Christmas. I know it was about accounting, but it felt like they didn’t trust me. Frankly I was insulted. Having said that, not insulted enough to not stay here because the rates and the other advantages are too good.

The internet is terrible here. They charge for it ($15 a day – and what is that? You can’t give free internet access?) and when you do pay for it, it can be sporadic. There is a business center where you can access the internet for free, but they make it a hassle to get a hotel password and the staff doesn’t understand the equipment very well.

Some of the rooms have the special foam beds. I don’t like the foam beds. They make me hot. If you would rather have a regular mattress, you should ask for one. They’ve always been quite accommodating to us on this front.

Anyway, this is a solid, basic hotel. It isn’t glamorous (in spite of what some at the desk might want to believe) but it is very good value for money for the most part, convenient, clean and comfortable.

We were travelling in Southern California with children aged 6 and 9 and we had a suite with two double beds in the bedroom. The great thing about these suites is that its like a home away from home. The kitchenette could be better equipped but has your basics to cook breakfast or a meal if you wanted to. There are 2 tv's so the adults and kids could both relax without being on top of each other. The staff were very helpful. Pool area great. Parking was a bit overpriced but we didnt have a problem parking directly opposite the hotel on the side of the road. This hotel was also located in the perfect spot for enjoying a holiday in Los Angeles. We even indulged in a few restaurants in Beverly Hills which were not as expensive as you might think - we jumped online and checked prices before we booked. The hotel has wireless internet available at a cost per day also. There are inhouse laundry facilities but only one machine for the whole hotel but we found most guests were sending things off for drycleaning anyway so the machines were always free.

When we arrived, they upgraded us to one bedroom suites. We thought, "Sweet!" It was nice when we walked into the rooms. But, when it came time to sleep, it wasn't so nice. The bed was rock hard. The rooms in the front of the main building are right over Wilshire Blvd. There is no white noise in the room to drown out the traffic. It's very loud! So, I had to sleep on the couch my first night. I changed rooms to the back of the hotel the next night. Other than no elevator access to these rooms and the non-existent cell signal, it was so much better. So, if you have an iPhone, expect no or little signal in this hotel. There is a very serene waterfall and stream going through the middle of this building. I really like this touch. The location is very nice and not far at all from restaurants and other things to do. The parking is expensive at $28 per day plus tips for the valet. If you don't want to valet, you have to park across Wilshire Blvd.
