We came here to print some tickets at the FedEx centre located in this hotel. Unfortunately we were 10 min late and they had just closed. Jaclyn at the frontdesk was super nice and helped us out with a big smile even though we were not staying in the hotel. Thank you Jaclyn Sliver, much appreciated!
We are delighted that Loews Hollywood was able to deliver excellent customer service, and ensure that you and your family were able to print your tickets. We pride ourselves on "making it happen" for our guests, no matter how long or short the stay! Thank you for your review!
We arrived in the dark and, not used to driving on American roads, I thought it would be difficult to find and park, but not at all. We approached from the direction of the interstate and turned easily into the parking garage. We'd been told parking was $40 a day, but that turned out to be valet parking. Just park on another level down and it's $13 for up to 24 hours - very good value.
Our room were 503 and 515 which were at the back of the hotel and faced the hills where I could clearly see the Hollywood sign (from 515). The rooms themselves were reasonably large, clean and decorated in a cool grey scheme. The room had a massive TV, desk, a useful bedside light with usb socket to charge your phone, small fridge with a lock - no key in the teenagers' room, so they couldn't take advantage of the fridge. Don't know why staff couldn't just have emptied the fridge of alcohol.
The pool was great - though not very deep - four feet at most, but a reasonable size considering it was on a rooftop. It was open from 6am-11pm, but closed for private parties on at least two nights we were there, which was annoying, especially as it didn't seem to be being used. The same during the day, when the daybeds were reserved, but nobody used them. There was a poolside bar - expensive, but you could take your own stuff and nobody said anything.
The hotel is in a complex that has lots of shops, bars and restaurants. I imagine it would be noisy on that side, but can't comment from experience. A short walk through the complex and you're on Hollywood Boulevard looking at the stars on the pavement. Lots of tacky touristy things, but that's what Hollywood is about. You could get your picture taken with any one of several Captain Jack Sparrows, Supermen, Spidermen etc.
We didn't eat in the hotel, but there's plenty to choose from nearby and also little shops/convenience stores for snacks etc.
The staff were helpful, but unobtrusive - just what you want.
Each room had free wifi for up to three devices and worked well enough. You could upgrade to paid wifi and there was also a business suite where you could work if necessary.
There was a spa and exercise facilities, with classes. The free toiletries in the lovely bathrooms were replenished pretty much daily, but they still left the old ones, so you were spoilt for bubbles, shampoo and body lotion. hairdryer and iron/ironing board were provided.
Thank you so much for this very thoughtful and thorough review! Sounds like you had a wonderful stay with your family and got to enjoy a bubble bath or two. Also glad you loved the location and found it very easy to get here and park late at night in the dark. Thanks for your additional feedback, and we're sharing with the team. We hope to see you again on your next LA visit.
This is a hotel filled with tourists and the flimsy walls make it very noisy. I asked for a quiet room because i needed some relaxation. Was given a room placed near hotel mechanics, loud toddlers & people partying that kept me up especially from 3-4am. Hotel security was finally able quiet down upstairs noise after another phone call, but, never apologized for my inconvenience for the "far from quiet setting". The upgraded room we purchased was nicely decorated and comfortable. The location is excellent if you are interested in being a part of the Hollywood tourist action. Not my idea of a relaxing California vacation spot. I would head to less congested area for that. Amenities at hotel are limited, however, they are surrounded by numerous bars, restaurants etc.
Thank you for the review of your recent experience.
We truly appreciate the feedback and look forward to seeing you again soon.
This hotel has an excellent location so close to the Walk of Fame which can be accessed within 2 minutes either by walking through the Hollywood Highland complex where there are loads of shops and places to eat or turn right outside the hotel’s main entrance and the end of the street joins the Walk of Fame. The most convenient, quickest and cheapest way to explore downtown L.A. is to travel on the underground system which is just 2 minutes’ walk from the hotel: turn right out of the hotel, walk round the corner to the right and in 2 minutes you’ll be at the Metro Red line stop – ignore the bus stop and look down to your right and you’ll see stairs leading down to the underground system. When you go down the stairs you will see ticket machines where you buy a “tap” card for $1 and if you load $5 onto this card you have unlimited all day travel on the Metro system. The “tap card” can subsequently be reloaded daily if and when required. These cards are also valid on buses so can give an amazingly cheap fun day out to places such as Santa Monica with its massive sandy beach and funfair on the pier, as well as the plaque in the middle of the pier signifying the end of Route 66. To get to Santa Monica using the $5 day pass, take the Metro Red underground train heading towards Civic Center and Union Station (worth a visit for its art deco style), but get off at the 6th stop – Wilshire/Vermont – catch bus number 720 on Wilshire Boulevard just outside the exit and it will take you directly to Santa Monica. The rooms at Loews Hollywood Hotel are very spacious, comfortable and clean and we were delighted to have been given a room with a wonderful view of the Hollywood sign as well as downtown L.A. in the distance. Reception staff were very helpful and friendly. The facilities at the hotel are good, the pool is rather small but adequate and when swimming at one side you can just catch a glimpse of the Hollywood sign to remind you where you are!!! The buffet breakfast is reasonably good but the choice is rather limited for a hotel of this calibre. Due to its location and spacious rooms providing home from home comfort, this hotel will definitely be my first choice next time I visit L.A.
We truly appreciate the feedback and look forward to seeing you again soon.
The hotel has a great location right on Holloywood & Highland which is close to the walk of fame and most of the popular tourist destinations. We could see the sign from our window and the outdoor pool too. Be sure to make full use of the one way Fiat shuttle service when you're there since it will pretty much take you to most attractions and shopping centers. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the rooms are fantastic!!!
Thank you for the review and recommendation. We are thrilled to know that the location and service made for such a memorable stay!
