Reviewed 29 April 2013

We stayed one night and found this hotel to be very nice.It is in a great location not only close to Universal but also the Hollywood sign ,Rodeo Drive and Sunset Blvd.Very friendly staff and a wonderful breakfast. Our room was large and very clean.I can not say enough good things about this hotel and will certainly come back if ever in the area again.

We stayed for two nights during our girls' spring break in order to take them to Universal Studios. The hotel staff were very friendly and the desk service was quick. The hotel itself was very nice and clean. Our room was spacious enough for the four of us with two queen beds, a desk, a couple of chairs, dresser, nice LCD screen TV, and roomy bathroom. The beds were comfortable enough. In March the rooms were already getting a bit warm, but they have AC. The unit itself was rather noisy, especially when set on fan, but we ended up being thankful for that because it drowned out the noise of our extremely noisy neighbors (very thin walls) next to us and the family of kangaroos above (I recommend asking for a 3rd floor room). The bathrooms were very nice with the exception of the showers never staying a consistent temperature. The water went up and down from cold to too hot without us ever touching the handle.

There was a small pool, but we never used it. Most of the parking is under the hotel, but there is an outdoor area as well...for overflow I presume.

The continental breakfast was lovely. They served toast, bagels, muffins, fruit, cereal, oatmeal, and waffles every morning. They changed hot dishes slightly daily, but they usually included biscuits, gravy, some sort of egg (cheese omelet our first morning, scrambled the next) and a meat (bacon the first morning, sausage the next). They provided coffee, tea, various juices, and milk. There was also yogurt.

While it is within walking distance to Universal Studios, it's a bit of a hike, a good portion of it up hill. The walk took about 15 minutes each way. If you don't want to pay the $15 parking fee, you can hike it. The area the hotel is located in is okay, not scary but not great. There aren't a lot of eating places within walking distances except for at CityWalk which is at the entrance to Universal Studios (no fee to enter unless you're driving and then you need to pay the parking fee). We went over for dinner our first night and were pleased with the variety of fast food and sit down. I believe there were about 30 different eateries.

Room Tip: Ask for back of hotel, top floor. There is an elevator and staircase.

- No Hot Water. 3 nights. During any/each shower, at best, it would fluctuate between warm and barely warm to cool. One time it just turned completely cold. We told the front desk on the morning of day 2. Late on day 2 we came back, they said it was fixed. Yeah, right … not a chance.
- Parking. Limited. They have to double stack vehicles when they are full. That means leaving your keys with the front desk. Important note: If you are parking out front (not covered parking) … ALWAYS back into the parking spot, it makes existing possible.
- Proximity. Easy access to/from the freeway. Easy access to Universal Studios Hollywood, it is virtually right across the freeway. Probably within walking distance, but, if you’ve been in Universal all day on your feet, you probably aren’t going to be walking to and from.
- Room. We had 314. Top floor back side, view of an alley, but no freeway, busy street noise, it was quiet. Nothing spectacular about the room, just a normal hotel room. Not small, not big … just normal
- Breakfast. They had an Ok assortment of choices. 3 cereals, bagels and muffins, bananas and apples. The ‘hot’ options appeared to alternate each day … very plain omelette folded over American cheese, bacon and biscuits and gravy. Alternate day had very plain scrambled eggs, sausage patties and biscuits and gravy again. And a Waffle maker. Not bad, not great.
- Overall. If you are planning on going to Universal Studios Hollywood, this is a very good place to stay, very convenient. After all they should have the hot water fixed by then ... right?

Room Tip: Room 314 was on the backside with zero view, but zero noise.

Great little hotel within walking distance of Universal Studios (approx. 10 mins walk). The place is exceptionally clean, the staff are friendly and the beds super comfy. For the location, the price is fantastic, and it includes free parking, free wifi and free breakfast (try the blueberry waffle mix). The only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is that it is in need of a bit of an update; particularly the lobby area. Would stay again though!

Stayed here - Mon-Weds. No Frills, although that is what I was looking for. The price was right.
We only stayed here to sleep. Very good location to many attractions - Universal Studios, CBS Studios, Beverly Hills, Hollywood. Room was very nice and clean. Serves breakfast - it was ok.

First up -
Excellent staff. Friendly, helpful.
Very very clean.
Our rooms was good sized with microwave and fridge.
Easy to find
Near Universal
Free parking was much appreciated
Good price
The free use of a printer in the lobby was very handy.

All those nice things but I'm still having to call it average all because the bed was way way too firm. Actually considered switching to the floor. Very close to the least restful night of sleep I've never had.

The "hot" part of the breakfast was mostly prepared by Chef Microwave. Although there was also a nice waffle maker and certainly there was plenty of variety. The pool and patio were really there so they could check off YES when asked if they had a pool and patio.
