“An overall assessment between "average" and "good"”
Reviewed 8 August 2013

We have used this restaurant for lunch during an entire day spent at Universal Studios.
We struggled to find an outdoor table to sit down (the tables are not assigned by the staff, but it is the responsibility of customer to find one available).
As for the food, it seems that our experience was overall better than that recorded by other reviewers: The food we ordered (beef burrito, a quarter fried chicken, shrimp tacos) was appreciable.
The bill seemed somewhat higher than that of other Mexican restaurants we have experienced between California and Arizona: $ 45 for three people.
Overall, my assessment is between "average" and "good".

“Nothing special”
Reviewed 3 August 2013 via mobile

Tried this place for lunch. Salads were fine but taco baskets were very oily. It won't do you any harm but there may be better elsewhere. However everywhere seemed very expensive!

“High prices, skimpy portions”
Reviewed 16 July 2012

We were checking out the citywalk and stepped into the Cantina for dinner. The decor is fairly typical for a mexican restaurant. There is a large back area they were opening up as the dinner hour arrived. There are large tables, a bar, a stage for live music, and a few TV screens. The menu is similar to what you might see in a tex-mex restaurant, basic traditional dishes listed. It is a standard restaurant, an average place you might find almost anywhere.

The food was disappointing and not nearly as authentic as the decor appeared. The prices were high for small servings. We ordered a combo fahita plate and the portion was skimpy. They were generous with corn and flour torillas but hardly served enough food to put on them. The chips were so hard and thick they were difficult to chew. The service was not terrific but not terrible. They took our order, brought our food, brought our check and said goodbye.

I would not go again.

“Skip it!”
Reviewed 13 July 2012

While visiting Universal Studios we decided to stop in for a quick bite to eat before we continued on our visit. This restaurant is located by the escalators that take you down to the Lower Lot area. In the mood for Mexican food we decided to try it out. First off, the restaurant is quaint with a limited menu. Not a big deal since it really isn't meant to be a full scale restaurant anyway. The food was very average and the service was very poor. The cashier was rude and arguing with other employees in front of everyone and was ignoring customers. There are many restaurants to choose from at Universal Studios and Universal CityWalk that have much better service and food so ignore this one if possible.
