We have been going here frequently since the mid-nineties. Never a bad experience. If you are trying it for the first time, don't be scared off by the restaurant's exterior. From the street, the place looks nothing except scary. However, once inside, you will find a tranquil zone with lots of plants and soothing Indian music and a divine mixture of smells.
The staff is attentive and seems to remember every guest. Many of the employees have been here for years and show great pride in their work.
The menu is a mixture of vegetarian and vegan options. Unlike many other Indian restaurants, Paru's will make special dishes to meet special dietary needs.
Besides the food and ambiance, the place is incredible for people watching. Despite its frightening facade, many from the entertainment industry frequent Paru's.
I wish they would update the bathrooms which appear stuck in the sixties, but otherwise the place is great.
Recommendation: Ask for the vegan thali to get a little taste of many dishes.
Warning: parking can be difficult and you should bring quarters to park on Sunset Blvd.
