“Great location”
Reviewed 2 August 2014

Apart from the fact that the hotel has no elevator (but we knew that), it fulfilled our expectations.
We have sent a message with our reservation that because we were going with heavy luggage, we wanted a downstairs room, but the staff didn't read our message and had located us in a room on the third floor. We told him about the message and since he didn't have a room downstairs, we accepted one on the second floor. Besides that the location is very good and the breakfast is also a good thing. We parked our car in a parking lot nearby and had no problems.
Staff is not there 24h, so if you checking in late, let them know.
The room has a good size, fridge, but microwave is located in the laundry room. TV is outdated (not flat screen), but works. Wi-fi works nicely.

got to say I was abit taken back when I first entered my room...quite small, dated furnishings (except for the bed which was by far the best thing about the room, very comfy)...brochure had said flat screen T V's in all rooms, with microwave, neither of which were in our room...I didn't question it as we were only there for one night...the bathroom was actually very nice, updated really nice shower, clean...
didn't try out the breakfast, as we wanted a full breakfast, not just a bagel etc...the breakfast 'room' is in the lobby so seemed somewhat cramped when we left to go out...
the 'hood, though convenient to Hollywood, is abit sketchy...older buildings on either side, not kept up at all, noisy with all sort of loud music, though not into the night...
was abit perplexed when the room above us was being cleaned/readied for the next guest at 7 am! Horrible noise from the vacuum cleaner, I mean really 7 am and you're making that much noise...
some have mentioned a courtyard, though I never saw it, not even a mention of it from the front desk...
all in all our stay was okay, yes there is value here, and lots of things within easy walking distance, including The Pantages Theater less than 10 minutes...

Nice helpful man on the desk, room a bit tired, but every thing worked, basic ok breakfast but enough to get you started, its free, a bit of noise from the building next door one night, but with earplugs not a problem. good bed, clean room, great shower, has a safe, good cheap hotel, value for money, would use again. its not great but you get what you pay for, just off Hollywood Blvd and other sites. I recommend a bar called Stout (Burgers and Beer) 1544 N. Cahuenga Blvd, lots of lovely IPA Beers and the best Burgers we have ever tasted and my Wife doesn't normally like them.

Room Tip: No lift so have to carry luggage up 1 flight of stairs.

This is an excellent choice if you are looking for a bed and breakfast hotel in a city as expensive as Hollywood. The location of this hotel is perfect because it is in the heart of hollywood and yet away from the hustle bustle of the street, hence no noise from the street at night. Also, it is safe which is a point of maximum worry in Hollywood as it is full of shady people. The room size was appropriate for two people and it was absolutely clean. Though there was just one mirror in the whole room which is placed in the bathroom and this causes a lot of inconvenience when you have to get ready quickly to start your day. A full length mirror and a small dresser would be nice, There is a refrigerator in the room and a microwave is available in the common area. They serve good breakfast with a selection of bagels and various spreads, coffee, tea, juice, some fruits and cereal bars. But they serve this in the reception area which is quite small and hence gets very crowded with guests waiting for tables to get empty. We had to wait for over 15 minutes to get a table on one of the days (we stayed for a total of 2 days) to get an empty table. The staff is very accommodating, friendly and helpful. They allowed us to check in an hour early. A mirror in the room and an appropriate place to have breakfast would have got this hotel 5 stars. These are minor shortcomings in my opinion and hence I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We stayed at the Hotel Hollywood for 5 nights in May 2014. We had a room on ground floor. Overall we were very satisfied with our experience considering the location and value.

Hotel is close to CVS, public transport and many local attractions (walk of fame, Chinese theater, Ripley's). We found it very easy to commute to Staples center and Santa Monica via public transport, although it took an hr yo get to beach by bus.

Room and bathroom tiny, but relatively comfortable. Extremely happy with breakfast, toast your own bagels with jam and cream cheese. Coffee and OJ. Fruit and cereal bars were easy to take as snacks for the day.

We would absolutely recommend this hotel for anyone looking for comfortable good value hotel.

Had a good experience here. The only thing I can say negatively is that we were arriving in L.A. at around 7am, by the time we had made our way to the hotel it was around 8am and the doors weren't open and there was nobody inside to let us in. We called them and we could hear the phone ringing for a long time with no answer. As we were stood there wondering what to do, a man who was a guest walked past us and we asked him if we knew when they would open and he told us he thinks around 9am. We waited for an hour or so for somebody to arrive and let us in. After that everything was great though! We had obviously arrived really early and hoped to store our bags, but they already had a room ready for us so we got to check in very early which was great. There is a nice, free breakfast and coffee every morning downstairs which was a nice surprise! The rooms weren't huge but definitely weren't too small. It was clean with a good shower and the bed was comfy. We spent 2 nights here and really enjoyed it, thanks!

Room Tip: Don't arrive before 9, you won't be able to get in!

First of all I can't agree with other tripadvisor reviews that the location is shady. It is simply not! It is really close to the walk of fame and hustle and bustle of Hollywood. I looked at a lot of reviews on line and believe me for the money you pay per night this is the place to be. This hotel is extremely well kept and the Queen bed is simply the best I ever slept on if I compare it to the same style hotel where we stayed. It is very clean, there is a breakfast served and the staff is extremely nice and helpful. We came in on a red eye flight and got to the hotel at 8.30 am. Still after been fully booked they told us to come back at 11.00 am. Our room would be ready for us at this time. We were able to leave to suitcase go for breakfast and when we got back the room was ready for us. This is service! Simply go there. We loved it.

Room Tip: I would go for a room on the top floor (although there is no elevator).
