Located in a nondescript SF Valley mall - between an electronics store and a chiropractor - the San Carlo is a family-run deli without peer. Pasquale (the son) is generally behind the counter while other members of the Roberto clan are taking orders or yelling to the pizza chef in back. From about 11:30 to 2 it's organized chaos. Many of the nearby companies (mostly computer-related) call in take-out orders - sandwiches, salads, pizza, soups, whatever.
There are just a few tables and everyone shares space. Not a place for long conversations, it's more like sit down, shut up and eat. One other thing: You grab a drink out of the cooler and pay for everything when you leave! Honest.
