The location is 2nd to none if you want to stay in Hollywood! It's 100 yards from Hollywood Boulevard and the Chinese Theater. But in a quiet residential street. Quirky rooms with beautiful old furniture. I had a very spacious double room that could easily have fitted 6 bunks. Was very pleasant. Good free WiFi reception. Free lockers for valuables. Small kitchen with free tea and coffee available. There was free breakfast on offer which I did not try. Plenty of showers and toilets dotted around the building. Always one available I found. Place clean and good value. Staff efficient and helpful, if not particularly friendly. No A/C, but no problem when I was there. Just opened a window. It's a quiet area. Not easy to find as no sign outside to indicate it is a hostel. Maybe better for security? I found it a very "different" type of hostel; old world & quirky. And great value for money!

Room Tip: Had room 11 downstairs. Beautiful furniture, and quite spacious for a hostel. No bathroom, but plent...

Excellent location, cleanliness, and service.

Recently stayed for six nights sharing a private room with my 21 yo son.

Hostel is an old rambling house with lots of natural light and a surprisingly laid back and quiet atmosphere.

Conveniently located for Hollywood and Griffith observatory. Downtown is easily accessible on the subway whilst Santa Monica and the Getty are quite easy (bearing in mind this is LA) to reach.

Have already recommended this hostel to friends and other family members.

This was a really pretty little hostel, in amongst huge buildings and just around the corner from the walk of fame. It seemed out of place- like it should have been a gardeners cottage in Downton Abbey, not the centre of Hollywood. Great facilities, very clean, staff were lovely, free waffles were great, I'd recommend it to anyone wanting to get in the midst of the Hollywood thing. Very close to a really pretty hiking trail.

The environment of the hostel is warm and nice. There is also courtyard for you to enjoy sunshine. Room size is at the average. There is a small kitchen allows you to do simple cooking. Breakfast of pancake (do it yourself) is provided. The location is at the heart of Hollywood. You need to be careful to look for the hostel since there is no signal. It is located near the end of orange drive.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the ground floor where have enought sunlight. It is also convenient to go to the k...

We loved this place! Tidy, location to die for, and affordable -with super cheap parking! The reception lady was really friendly, and they also had the cutest dog at the reception :) There was the best hot chocolate in common room, I still miss that... If I went back to LA, I wouldn't even think of staying anywhere else.

I stayed here for around 5 nights during my last couple of days in LA after a Topdeck tour. The location is absolutely AMAZING. You are a 3 minute walk away from a grocery store, and you basically just have to walk out to the main strip on Hollywood Blvd.

I go a private room, and it was nice, private, and spacious. I would definitely come back again!

The only Con I would say would be the staff. The staff there weren't as welcoming and in fact, I always felt as though I was intruding whenever I went to them for a bit of help.

We got there early in the morning and our room was ready for us. This was great because we were so tired after a long flight. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The place was very nice and very clean. I saw cleaners walking around in the morning, which was great. We had the room in the attic overlooking the front lawn. This was a spacious room for two people which was excellent. However, the drive does get REALLY noisy at night with people coming and going to Hollywood Blvd. This was a bit of a problem. The bathrooms were always nice and clean too. The upstairs bathroom didn't have hot water which was kind of annoying because it was just across from our room. But there were so many bathrooms in the whole house we didn't have much trouble. The only complaint I have is that the wifi only works on the first floor. The staff left our room alone (didn't come in to clean) because it was just the two of us which was great because we didn't have to be too worried about our stuff. The location of this place is great. Very close to a supermarket, a subway station and all the important sights on Hollywood Boulevard. I'd definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Get a room towards the back of the house, if it's possible. It may be quieter there. Be prepared...

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Your feedback helps improve our hostel.
We are happy that you enjoyed your stay with us. We apologize for the low WiFi signal in your room. We are taking steps to make sure all the rooms receive WiFi.
The house, which is very large, and over 100 years old, can be a little tricky in the Winter months, in the attic area. The water will get hot, but unfortunately it can take several minutes.
Thank you for staying with us!
Kindest Regards,
Orange Drive Hostel
