“Horrible movie experience!”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

Expensive tickets, long line outside in the heat, horrible customer service. I bought my tickets online in advance to see Maleficent (good movie) and there were lines wrapping around, they need assigned seating because it was a freakin mad house, the attendants act as if it was a free show they were incredibly rude, and what is the deal with the extra expensive experience for VIP's! VIP get a different long line and special concession stands, meantime everyone else who paid a ridiculous amount for our tickets stand in extra long concession stands. The experience was so unpleasant, I will NEVER be back! Theater seats are cramped and the view of the screen is not good and the show started over 20 mins late.

“beautiful theater”
Reviewed 24 May 2014

if you like Disney movies and have kids this is the place to take them, there is often a show before the screening. Sumptuous decor linked to the history of the place, once a masonic temple, opera theater and paramount theater prior to being a Disney Theater

“Old Hollywood Style - Great Place To See A Movie!”
Reviewed 21 May 2014

This theatre has been completely renovated by the Walt Disney Company, and it is a great and beautiful place to see a first-run or classic movie - usually with some fantastic pre-show and an amazing organ! A little pricey, but it's a real event when you come here. Try it - then you'll get it.

“A Must-Do for Families visiting LA and Hollywood”
Reviewed 14 May 2014

I lived here almost three years before I finally took my kids to see a movie at the El Capitan Theatre. Why did I wait so long!!

First off, the ticket prices were very reasonable considering the cost of your average neighborhood theater. We have a family of 6, so we opted for general seating and got to the theater one hour before the start time and lined up on the sidewalk. My husband went right in and bought popcorn and drinks, so the kids didn't mind waiting in the line. When they let us in, we were able to get great balcony seats.

We did have to pay for parking, but it was right behind the theater and not too expensive.

The movie opened with a show, which was really cool. The inside of the theater was wonderful, with great lighting and decorated to match the movie we were seeing.

After the movie, the lobby had lots of photo ops - so we waited in line to take pics with statues from the film.

Overall - GREAT Hollywood experience if you have small children (based on the film). This was a great trip!

“Disney's El Capitan Theatre”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

Before Disney bought the El Capitan, it was run down and tired. But with a big cash infusion, Disney restored the El Capitan to its former glory. Although it only shows Disney produced films, the El Capitan is a reminder of Hollywood's "Golden Age", when theater palaces reigned supreme...before the advent of the "Cracker Jacks" multiplex theaters. The theater itself is big, like the Chinese across the street, with an earth shattering sound system and comfy seats. The only downside is the ticket price!
