Best Western Plus Hollywood Hills Hotel
Ranked #49 of 353 Hotels in Los Angeles
Reviewed 24 November 2010

Stayed at the hotel for 5 days while on holiday in Southern California. The rooms were very comfy and well spaced. The bathrooms were also of a good size.

This hotel is that it is well located to Hollywood and the freeways. You can walk easily down to the action. Walking back to the hotel at night also felt a little uneasy depending on which part of Hollywood your walking from.

The cafe 101 serves very good food, however they do not offer room service and you can not charge your meals back to the room. Local pizza shops will offer a delivery service to your room though. The view out of our window was not much to sing out about as we had the freeway view. If you had a hills view it would be much better.

All the staff were freindly and the valet parkers would always have a chat with you (they do not offer self parking).

While we stayed there they were doing a fair amount of construction work. This was limited to between 10-4 during the day so it did not impact our lives in any way as we were out and about at that time. The one thing that does make this property feel a little un safe is the lack of security. Anyone from the street would be able to bypass any staff by walking in through the back parking lot and straight up to the rooms (they did not have a safe in the room). I did over hear the front desk saying that the security cameras are out of action while the construction work was being completed.

Apart from that we enjoyed our stay in Hollywood and would definetely recommend the hotel to anyone that wants to explore the area on a normal budget.

My husband and I loved this hotel. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The rooms are large and comfortable with an enormous bathroom. We also had a small kitchen with a sink, fridge and microwave. I'm not sure if that is standard. The walls throughout the hotel and in your room are covered with movie memorabilia which is really fun. They are renovating the outside of the hotel so it doesn't look like much from outside, but inside is great. The 101 Coffeshop attached is AWESOME! It has everything from breakfast to vegan food to pastrami, ice cream, all types of alcohol. Its got a great vibe, too. The only criticism is that it is too good and probably kept us from trying other places as it was so convenient and delicious. It's just a few blocks from the famous Hollywood and Vine. This hotel is a great place in a great location for a great price. Its comfortable with lots of character.

After a disastrous stay at the W Hollywood, this time we took a chance with the Best Western on Franklin Avenue. It is simple and great, and quiet, even though the hotel is being renovated, it was still a pleasant stay. The rooms are clean, bathroom very large, a very cute pool, and above all : QUIET. The coffee shop downstairs is wonderful, full of interesting youngsters, the food is very good, the music very Hip. I felt as we had a trip back in time to the 60' in LA. The architecture, the staff, very knowledgeable, the breakfast, it felt so relaxing. I will go back of course, as it will become my number one choice for the area.

The hotel is undergoing external renovation, but don't let that keep you away. The rooms are clean, modern, and comfy. There is a 2 person shower instead of a bathtub (if that makes a difference to you). We really enjoyed our stay. The film memorobelia is great.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame ( with the Kodak and Grauman's Chinese theaters) is a 10 minute walk, and Universal Studios is a 10 minute drive - you can't beat the location.

The breakfas at the cafe t is awesome - get the rush hour special for $6. It's great. One thing you need to know however: the Orange Juice is abolutely delicious and $5 per glass! I took my family of 6 for what I was thinking would be a $40 breakfast, but with orange juice and a 18% service charge they added to my bill, it was over $90. Yummy, just unexpected.

I would stay ere again for sure.

The first stop on our tour of California travelling from UK. A nice quirky place situated close to Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Blvd. Our queen room was well equipped with coffee maker, fridge, free wifi and iPod music system which was great to charge the iPhone. There is currently some construction work being carried out (oct 10) so it can be noisy, our room window was facing a brick wall with scaffolding, but preferred this to facing the noisy freeway. The bathroom was large and with all toiletries and the wardrobe being here too. There was an iron and ironing board which we didn't use. With the scaffolding, this means there is mandatory chargeable valet parking (around $5 per night) plus tourist tax of $6 per night. Also factor in a customary valet tip upon collection of your vehicle. There is a cafe as part of the hotel, their rush hour breakfast left me with a sensitive stomach. The lobby staff were friendly and helpful, but the maid service were conservative with milk and sugar. Overall I recommend this place but would not pay full price and advise to go through a broker such as Expedia for the best deal.

Arrived very late one night and thought the place was out in the sticks. Night person on the desk was very helpful. Room was on 2nd floor and was a good size with 2 double beds. Bathroom was a good size and clean
Beds very comfortable and the pool was very clean with plenty of sun lounges. Daylight came and discovered the hotel was in a very good location, very close to Hollywood Blvd.
The day staff on the desk could have been a bit more helpful but were pleasant enough.

We had a very pleasant 1 night stay at the BWHH. The front desk staff are very friendly & helpful. This hotel is located near everything you could ever want to see in Hollywood. We would definitely recommend this place to anyone interested in visiting this area. Don't forget to try the Brownie Waffle in their downstairs diner - so good!
