“not bad!”
Reviewed 14 September 2013

we stayed 2 nights here and the room is good enough. It located in downtown which is very close to Little Tokyo. I will recommended for who just stay a few days in Los Angeles without high expectation on hotel facilities and room size - it is tiny, but as a hongkonger i think it's acceptable.

Many attraction nearby, esp. music center, angel flight, little tokyo. The metro station is very close to it. (around 5 mins walk )

There are wifi service but you have to pay. Otherwise you can use the desktop internet service ( just 1 computer there). Fortunately, my room have a little kitchen area (fridge!) for storing some ice cream/ food. It's convenient for us.

The only bad thing we found was the coffee pack provided seems opened and either the shampoo sets. Some hairs sticked on it. You better check carefully.

We had paid extra on Expedia for a "Deluxe" room rather than the "Standard" room. Upon arrival we were given a small room that smelt fousty and could definitely not be described as "Deluxe". Upon looking at Kawada's website, it appears that there is no such thing as a Deluxe room. They are all standard. Therefore, my review is a little tainted with what I was expecting based on Expedia's description.

We spoke to the reception desk in the morning and they moved us to a slightly better room, and were very apologetic. We noticed another couple do the same thing a couple of days later.

On the positive front, the hotel served it's purpose. It was close to the Metro, which was ideal for getting to Hollywood, Universal City and LA Live. The staff on the front desk were brilliant. They were helpful, and arranged to print our boarding pass for the journey home, when the communal printer was broken. The bellhop permanently had a smile on his face.

Next door is the Cherry Pick, which provides decent breakfasts at a reasonable price.

I would be happy to stay here again for a night or two, knowing now what to expect, but would look elsewhere if looking for a longer stay.

My boyfriend and I booked this hotel from an Expedia deal for 4 nights, and we are excavating out of this place on our first night. We weren't expecting much, but we never thought that it would be this horrible. First of all, they gave us a room with double twin beds despite the fact that we specifically ordered a queen, and told us that the reservation only keeps the room and NOT THE ROOM TYPE. Second, the room is WAY SMALLER than it seemed on the picture. Third, when we entered the room, I can immediately smell an UNBEARABLE ODER which resembles that of the toilet. I stayed in the room for a while but I couldn't bear the oder anymore that we asked the hotel to give us some air freshener. The cleaning lady came with a bottle of cleaner and poured it into the toilet, which might have helped clean this place but not much with the oder. Then we attempted to clean the AC filter, since the air coming out from it smells terrible. However, the 14yrs old AC accumulated too much dirty things that we simply can't clean it with paper and water. We eventually decided to find somewhere else to stay as it is impossible to sleep here with the strong oder, even though we might not be get our money back, because we would like to at least sleep during our stay.

I am sorry you did not like the hotel. We have looked into the smell you indicated but not sure what you experienced. Our rooms are small and we keep them clean. A/C 's are serviced on a regular basis.

I stayed 6 nights at the KH in L.A. The hotel is very simple , but if you just want a place to sleep and shower it is more than ok. It is a block to a metro station, buses run from Pershing Square 2 blocks away. Angel's Flight is down the road, Grand Central Market the same(opens from 9 am to 6 p.m a pity could be a good solution for dinner ) and the Bradbury building around the corner.
Breakfast is not included but you can choose between "The Cherry Pick" which is attachted to the Hotel our just a few doors down there is The GCM like I said above.
Not fars is the Los Angeles Times, Court House, and Walt Disney Concert Hall.
We stayed very well.

Stayed here for 4 nights to start off a three month trip across the US and Canada. The room was extremely small, the beds were very uncomfortable, the TV only displayed about 3 English speaking channels. The bathroom was dated, but was kept tidy. Granted, we did stay here because it was cheaper. But if I had my time over again I wouldn't stay in downtown LA. If I had no choice but to stay downtown, I would go somewhere else. The extra money would be worth it.

I'm sorry... I'm confused on this one... you stayed in Sept 2012, but wrote a review in August 2013?

Don't go there guys. The only pro I can think of is the fact that it was clean... The cons, on the contrary, make a big list; The guy at the front desk looks like he smoked some spliff and did not shower in ten days, the rooms and the appliances look WAY too old, the TV is very small, there are false windows... NO!

After reading a few reviews we were very scared to stay at this hotel. But it wasn't that bad. It's just your basic hotel for the price. Small rooms but clean room. The wait staff Ron and Derrick was very helpful!! We did have an issue with the valet price. They try to charge us $22.00 a night but i went on a website and seen the prices listed was different and Ron was able to honor this. Which end up being 11.00 a night. Pros:Very near to restaurants that are walking distance and it is also in the middle of everything. Cons: Very slow elevator.
