We need to stay for one night near LAX. For us, Travelodge provides the free wi-fi, free breakfast, newspaper and free 24hr shuttle. It's very ok for us.

One thing you need to note, please reserve shuttle by phone. They will not contact you if you order shuttle by email. For tourist, I suggest you ask for assistance in information please at LAX. The staff will be glad to help.

We might stay again when passing through LAX.

Room Tip: If you have large baggage, especially trunk, please ask them to arrange your room at the first floor

This was a last minute rush for a hotel, due to the fact lax was closed on Apr 30 and we misconnected. I went on line and only reasonable priced hotel was travelodge and last room too.
We booked it! waited a few minutes for the shuttle and then it was a short drive to hotel. We arrived at hotel and were greated right away by staff, looking around we thought OH WELL! Checkin was easy.
We headed to our room through the property and what a wonderful surprise! This hotel is full of character and the room it had everything we needed. The room was clean the bed was comfortable but the pillows were wonderful.
We are so glad we found this little hidden treasure in the middle of all the hustle and bustle of a busy place. You will hear airplanes all night but it wasnt a problem for us.
We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: They also have day rooms for the long layover passenger

On behalf of the staff and management thank you for the accolades. We appreciate the 5 star rating you gave us. We strive to provide travelers with a different option then the high rise hotels that have a homogenized look...we do have a different visual image. The average tenure of the staff is 14 years...of the 61 employees there are 47 that are related to five families...we have grandparents, parents and students (a program sponsored by the hotel to give employee's children work experience) who attend to all of our guests needs.

When we were at the hotel a power cut had blacked out the whole area so there was a certain amount of understandable confusion as we were shuffled from one room to another until we found one that was ready for occupation. It can be a bit of a walk with heavy luggage to the far end of the hotel. The security guard was very helpful in the power outage. Expect some noise from fellow guests and planes.
When the power came on we discovered a regular airport hotel with a standard room and an adequate bathroom. For a one night stay it was fine and very convenient for the car rental return (Alamo and National just around the corner). Two fast food restaurants nearby - Denny's, on the same site and Taco Bell a short walk along the main road leading away from the airport - but not much else in the area. Parking was restricted due to the power outage that prevented the security gate from operating, but should prove adequate in more normal times.
Breakfast room was small with only just a sufficient number of tables for the guests. Standard motel breakfast options.
I would stay again when passing through LAX, but only for one night.

Thank you for submitting a review of your stay. The hotel has two sections...the extended wing adds walking distance to your room; however, you get to pass pay interesting water and lighting features. Many returning guests select the rooms that are more distant from the lobby and pool area as they find them to be quieter...less aware of airport noise.
Regrettably you were staying with us when a semi-truck and trailer knocked down a main power pole. Thank you for acknowledging the assistance of staff.
Yes, the airport area is a commercial center and other than the airport there are no tourist sites in the immediate area. The great Southern California beaches are only 5 to 10 minutes from the hotel. Tours level daily from the hotel--the airport is the hub of the wheel for transit to all the most popular tourist sites--do not have to change hotels every night.

I come to California 1-2x/year from the east coast and I always choose to stay here.
My most recent visit was in April 2014

Positives:
1. Convenient to the airport with free shuttle service to and from the hotel

My only "complaint" = you are out of luck if your cell phone battery dies. The hotel is not linked to the phone bank in the LAX Baggage Claim and if there is no agent at the Information Desk, you're basically on your own. This happened to me during my most recent visit but I was able to resolve the situation without too much trouble.

2. Free shuttle service to/from the rental car agencies
3. Free computer access for airline check-in + boarding pass printing
4. Free parking on site
5. Free breakfast which is ample and satisfying [includes hot waffles, sausage, cereal, toast and assorted breads, yogurt, fresh fruit, juices, coffee
Hours = 6 am - 9 am
There is a heated outdoor dining area beyond the glass sliding door = very nice and frequently very private!

6. Jr. Olympic outdoor pool
7. Clean, quiet, comfortable rooms. I choose to stay in the Garden Area although travelers with heavy luggage may not care to take the long walk to get there. The property is extensive so pay attention to your surroundings and be mindful of the signs that will help you find your way back to the lobby.
8. Absolutely beautiful landscaped gardens.
9. Friendly, knowledgeable staff
10. Very interesting hotel history = check the back of the hotel's directory for details

I've never heard the planes coming in/going out of LAX.


Negatives:

Only one [see # 1, above]

Looking forward to my next California, hopefully in the fall. See you then :)

While booking our return flight from Anchorage, Alaska to Perth, Western Australia our travel agent recommended travelling via LA with an overnight stop. On reflection we decided that a nights sleep in the middle of a long trip might be worth the bother of leaving and returning to the airport. As it turned out, it was a wonderful decision. We booked at Travelodge Lax. On our arrival, from Anchorage, close to midnight, we collected our luggage then phoned Travelodge. Their shuttle collected us, took us to the hotel and once checked in our luggage was put in our room - a service that was often lacking during this trip.
This hotel is an oasis of trees, flowers, birds and even animals (two squirrels) on the edge of LA LAX. A very comfortable room, with everything necessary, and a sliding door to the enclosed garden and swimming pool. Following a comfortable sleep, a delightful complimentary breakfast in a flower filled courtyard, a day of relaxation in and around the pool, the shuttle took us back to the airport in time for check-in. Our room was available to us until our departure time of 8.00 pm. This stop over had the added advantage of avoiding the long delay between flights and the sometimes very traumatic transfer between terminals. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Thank you Lance, the owner, for assisting us with this reservation.

I definitely would concur to not have access to my cell phone to call the hotel for the shuttle service would not be pleasant. There are pay phones in the luggage claim area that do not require coins when calling the 1 800 421-3939 number to the hotel.

We wanted a hotel near LAX. Well this hotel is close, but we waited 35 minutes for their shuttle to appear, as the shuttles for the other hotels regularly cleared the waiting passengers. The hotel is not on the free airport hotel phone line, though the other LAX Travelodge is, but we rang twice and the hotel knew we were waiting.
We paid 99 dollars for a room which was dated and shabby, and which looked out at a blank wall. There is no lift to the second floor. The breakfast was OK but there was a crush of customers and finding an empty table was difficult. The gardens are pretty, but hardly extensive.

Regrettably any wait for a hotel shuttle is a negative experience after a long and tiring flight. We apologize for the delay in service.
A study of reviews reveals when the initial introduction to our hotel is negative, then every instance that supports the original encounter is listed. Continental breakfast... no mention of quality of items and availability but only the crush of guests; guest room...not the update room features but a subjective description using the work "shabby"; gardens ... "but hardly extensive" rather than the beautiful landscaping...water features, lighting, and variety of tropical plants that many reviews praise. The websites includes the instructions regarding accessing the hotel shuttle--need to call the hotel with the phone number provided. We are a small hotel and are allocated ONLY two shuttle by the LAX Airport so we cannot circle the terminals like the hotels with 300 to 1250 guests rooms that enables them to operate a large shuttle fleet.. The flight of stairs without an elevator...there is staff available to assist with carrying luggage without the expectation of a tip.

Very convenient for airport. However that meant planes could be heard throughout the night!
Shuttle bus a bonus. Breakfast more than enough. Room a little dated and a VERY strong smell of disinfectant as we walked in. However, in spite of this (because of this!) It was immaculately clean & once we made a coffee the smell of the coffee filled the room. Most staff very pleasant.

Thank you for submitting a review and the 4 star rating you gave the hotel. Cleanliness is a top priority for the hotel and we do apologize if we may go a little overboard but choose to error on the side of being germ free.
Yes, when you are within 3 to 5 minutes of the terminals for the 2nd busiest airport in the United States, there is air tariff noise. The hotel does provide ear plugs. Due to flight patterns even staying several miles away does not eliminate the noise of airplanes landing or taking off.
