“Great hotel - very happy guests”
Reviewed 13 January 2013

I'm here from Australia. This hotel is GREAT. It's reasonably priced. The staff are friendly. The room's are nice and clean.

The food in Tula's restaurant and room service are EXCELLENT - and superbly priced. I hate hotel restaurants that try and gouge you because you don't have other options, but the food is well priced and is GREAT quality. Kids under 12 eat free so that's another saving.

$3 for washing and drying is a bit much and only 3 machines of each.....

Free regular shuttle to Universal. The hotel is a $15 - $20 cab fare to Graumans, Hollywood Stars etc.

The WiFi signal is strong and Super Fast and free.

Large flat screen with a stack of channels inc Disney and Nick (great for the kids...)

The pool is nice although not huge, but no complaints.

I am really happy with all aspects of this hotel and would strongly recommend it.

A 3 night rip over the new year to LA brought us here and it turned out to be the ideal spot for Universal, Hollywood and Beverly Hills.
The hotel is a 1950's throwback - it was a Howard Johnson's - and still has that feel. Although mine was not, many of the rooms have been refurbished to rather a good standard and the bedroom ameneties are very good indeed. The only criticism is that the noise from the adjacent freeway is terribly loud.
There is an excellent breakfast buffet, a good bar, a shop and nearly all the staff wer pleasant and helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for a refurbished room!

Our original room was an Executive suit with a kingsizes bed. There were no safedepositbox so we asked for it in the reception and was told that they were out but we could opgrade our room for an extra 200$ for 4 days. (she did not mention the price wasnt inkl tax so the price was 240$ instead ontop of the 900$ that we already payd for 4 nights...) our opgrade gave us more space but the room was still was dirty and not much else but the extra space... both rooms are were poorly isolated so its cold noisy from the road and have a musky smell... When your in the room it actually sounds like there is a window open, but no! its just thin glass that lets you here all the trafic noise from the street... when we wanted to sleep the bed had crumbles on the bedsheat and we are not sure if they changes it from the earlier guest???

They have a strict no money back policy so you cant cancel your stay and go somewere else, and I understand why because no one would stay after seeing/smelling the rooms!

Dont waste your money on this dump! its way overpriced! its more expensive than the signature in las vegas were we stay the first week of our USA vacation.

Also if you have foodallergy's stay away from there restaurant our be very suspicius regardin the food they serve and gives you the impression that they no what there serving you. They made a "special sauce just for me" (the waiters words..) that was both gluten and dairyfree... until I asked to check what kind off starch they used! The waiter comes back apologetic and tells us that the sauce had both gluten and dairy and also removed a tomato top with cheese from my plate after I told her that cheese is dairy... OMG! save yourself the trouble and go stay anywere but here...

we stay at the Holiday Inn Beverley Garland Hotel for three nights recently. We booked the hotel online as it said it is close to Universal studio. It is a mid range hotel. we booked two rooms. They are fairly clean and beds are ok. There is a shuttle bus service from the hotel to universal studio, every half hourly from 8:30am from the hotel. One thing we dislike about the rooms is the air-cond were very loud and noisy. Its quite convenient to drive to LA downtown or other tourist areas. I would recommend if you are having a holiday without expecting luxuries during your stay.

We stayed for four nights from Dec. 24-28, 2012 and loved the atmosphere and location. Holiday decorations were gorgeous. The free Universal Studios shuttle was very convenient for a day at the park and an evening at City Walk. The kids enjoyed the heated pool and spa even in December. The location is so convenient to restaurants, shopping and many attractions. If traveling to LA in the future, I would definitely stay at this beautiful property again.

I have recently stayed here with my family from Dec 28, 2012 to Jan 1 2013. We've enjoyed the experience and we're quite happy with the room as it was nice and comfy. I really love the location because it's just 5-10 minutes away from Universal Studios and they even provide a free shuttle bus to and from Universal Studios.
The only thing which was a drawback for me was having to stay at the building named Portola, we had to walk outside to reach the front desk and the breakfast area. As it was raining during the days we've stayed, it was quite a hassle especially with a 4-yr old child walking through the cold weather and the rain. The heater in the room was a little bit noisy too. But overall, it was a great experience and would certainly stay here again.

I arrived here for 4 nights with my family (husband and two boys aged 7 and 9) after travelling for 24 hours from australia! Was great to be welvcomed warmly and with an earlier check in which was just what we needed!!!! Room was great value for money, had the kids suite with bunks which gave us a little privacy. The location was great and staff were more than happy to offer directions or suggestions for things to do around the place. Overall extreamly happy with all aspects and will definately stay again and recommend to others.
