“Very nice hotel close to Universal Studios”
Reviewed 29 May 2010

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in May as part of a multi-city vacation in California and Nevada. We chose the Beverly Garland based on other reviews and were not disappointed. The hotel is situated in North Hollywood, close to Universal Studios which is only a 5 minute drive away. The hotel has a minivan which takes guests and picks them up from Universal Studios; this service is free and we used it without any problems. The staff we encountered were all very nice and helpful including LaTanya who works in the gift shop and the waiter in the restaurant (I think his name was Milo?).

The rooms are comfortable and clean with good quality linens and towels. There was no in-room safe but it is possible to "hire" a safe in the business centre by the hotel lobby. Basically you pay a deposit for the safe key (I believe this was $25) and get it back when you return the key at the end of your stay. There is free wi-fi in the room (you need to ask the staff for an access code).

There is a good sized pool and hot tub plus a sauna and a gym. The pool area is really nice and there is even a fireplace which is especially handy when you have a dip after dark and you feeling a little bit chilly after getting out of the water. The pool area is open till 10pm.

There is also a laundy room on the lower ground floor of one of the buildings with a coin operated washer and dryer. You will need quarters for these, about $1.25 for the wash and $1 for the dryer (or vice versa - cannot remember). It costs $14 a day to park in this hotel. I believe this is the norm with many Los Angeles hotels especially ones near tourist attractions.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel and would recommend it without hesitation. My one word of advice is to ask for a room that does not face the freeway (if you are a light sleeper). The first room we were offered faced the freeway and I knew straight away that this would not work for me. We went down to lobby again and asked for a room change, which they did graciously and without any hassle. We will return to the Beverly Garland.

This is the 2nd time in 12 years I've stayed at this hotel and both times were wonderful. The front desk staff was super friendly. I needed more towels and called down to the desk, within 4 minutes the towels plus extra washclothes and hand towels were delivered to my room. The room had been remodeled and was comfortable and spacious. The internet is free and a business center is available with a printer all included in the price. Parking is $14.00, but every hotel in that area charges the same rate and more for the stay.
This hotel is 1 mile from Universal Studios. The price was not much more than it had been in 1999. I would stay here again in a flash!

Either my wife or myself have stayed here 8 times within the last year. The rates are reasonable, and the rooms are clean. The pool is great and the restaurant is good. The rooms are not as fancy or as updated as some hotels, but for the price it can't be beat. We have paid about 150 per night for each stay. It is within walking distance of many restaurants and a grocery store and pharmacy. It is convenient to Studio City, North Hollywood, and Burbank. The only draw back is the highway just north of the hotel. Ask for a room with a balcony that does not face the highway.

The location is easy to get to and within walking distance of many restaurants as well as a grocery store. Clean rooms with nice balcony views as well as good lounging areas/ pool.

Tula's restaurant is affordable and has some of the best, freshest food I've eaten at a hotel while traveling. Most items $20 or less on dinner menu!

They also have a pretty nice fitness center.

We were here for a short vacation, had a great time. The hotel's decor is beautiful, and the rooms are nice and roomy. The staff very helpful and nice. There is a shuttle that takes you to Universal Hollywood, City Walk , no charge. There is a hot tub, pool, fitness center, and a great resturant. Waht more can you ask for.

This hotel had a coffee-maker, lounge chair, patio and padded walls for quiet. House staff were very pleasant as was the concierge and front desk staff. Hotel also has a fine reasonably-priced restaurant and free internet. We've stayed in Vegas and New Orleans and the Beverly Garland was better than any other places we've been.
