“Great hotel before a cruise”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 November 2013 via mobile

This hotel was very nice. We checked in late, around 10pm and our shuttle driver had a little trouble finding the entrance. The lobby of the hotel is actually on the 2nd floor and the parking garage beneath it. The inside of the hotel was very nice. Sleek, modern and nicely decorated. We had a king size room that was very large, nicely decorated and very comfortable. Looking at other reviews, we did see that people requested rooms in the back of the hotel because it is quieter, but we got a room right in the front of the building. The hotel is on a main road, but it wasn't too loud and I had no problem sleeping through the night. The bed was extremely comfortable. Breakfast was good and they even had microwave popcorn that I made before going up to my room the night before. We booked a free shuttle to the cruise port and it was actually ahead of schedule so we got to go sooner than expected. A very short ride to the port and very easy to get there. I know some people mentioned that the outside area was not very desirable. But for a short overnight stay before or after a cruise, you can't beat it. If we had needed to, I would not have had a problem walking outside. The area wasn't particularly nice and driving to the cruise port you could see bars on every home's windows, but again it was a great location and you can't beat a nice free hot breakfast and a free ride to the cruise port. I did take a look at the exercise room. It was small but nice for anyone that wants to get a workout in and they also had a very nice outdoor pool. I would highly recommend the Best Western and stay here again if I took another cruise out of San Pedro.

This hotel is very convenient to the cruise port in San Pedro, and the room we had was obviously updated. Do ask for a room on the back side, however, if you want quiet; our 3rd floor room was at street level and traffic noise continued all night. Breakfast was a nice surprise; lots of choices.

This hotel has recently been refurbished and it is beautiful on the inside. Do not judge this hotel from the exterior. It is a wonderful place to stay before and after a cruise. It is close to the pier and they provide a shuttle, free breakfast, and will keep your car for a nominal fee. The staff is friendly and the hotel is very clean.

We stayed at the hotel for two nights prior to a cruise. We arrived prior to check in time and the front desk clerk (a lady) was very accommodating, and we were able to get into our room early. A nice plus since our flight required a very early departure and time change. Complimentary transportation was provided to the port for our cruise. Sign up at the front desk is done 24 hours prior.

The hotel has undergone renovation. The character from the past is evident. Stained glass windows in various locations are evidence of this. There is an outdoor Jacuzzi and hot tub, and an exercise room with one of those beautiful windows. Our room was clean and comfortable, and on the larger size. The area seems to be in an older area of town, and one we felt cautious to walk around after dark although the front desk assured us it wasn't a problem. The price was definitely right compared to other hotels in the area. Complimentary breakfast was a typical continental.

I have no problems recommending this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

Thank you! Our staff understand the surprises that come with air travel and are well-versed in accommodating our guests' needs. The stained glass windows are part of the hotel's original architecture and offer a spectacular visual backdrop on the many sunny days in San Pedro!

We stayed here one night before our cruise.

Pluses,

Free transport to the cruise terminal in the morning, hot complimentary breakfast, large, clean rooms, nice hotel once you are inside
.
Minuses

The surrounding area! (dirty, smelly, unsavory)
No bar or dining in hotel. The space is there, but not occupied.( A real shame, as we had to get food from a takeaway and liquor/wine from the corner store and drink and eat dinner in our rooms. 2 middle aged couples, partying away like college kids on the cheap, eating/drinking in our rooms! We would have preferred a nice meal and drinks in the hotel bar/restaurant.)

Someone could make money if they leased the bar and restaurant in this hotel!!!

The staff told us of a restaurant near by for dinner, however, it was closed the night we were there. There are various take away places. (hamburgers, tacos, Hawaiian BBQ, Asian noodles)

The hotel is on a very busy street off the freeway, if you want a quiet room, request a room in the back.

I would stay here again, as the hotel is clean and nice (on the inside) and the free transport to the pier is great! I only wish we didn't need to venture outside to get food and drink!

Room Tip: Get a room in the back for quiet.

Thank you for your input from your stay with us. We are meeting with the city council to bring improvement to San Pedro in order to further improve our guests' experience in this port town. We are glad you enjoyed the breakfast buffet and newly renovated guest rooms, and we are excited for the near-future opportunities that await for filling our restaurant and bar space! Look forward to your next visit in sunny SoCal!

Accomodations at this hotel is very comfortable and clean and spacious. The free breakfast was better than expected with lots to choose from. Parking is free and a shuttle is provided for transportation to the cruise center. Very good value for the money. The front desk staff, however, seemed to be undertrained in basic knowledge of the surrounding area, customer service. It was frustrating when every question asked was answered with 'I don't know' or 'We don't have maps of the area' or 'I'll do that later'. and it was never done. It was also odd that they charged you for the whole stay as soon as you checked in and never give you a receipt unless you asked.

Thank you for your sincere feedback. We are continually training our staff to provide concierge service regarding the local area and we are excited to welcome aboard newly hired staff to familiarize them with all that San Pedro has to offer! Our cruise guests do appreciate the full breakfast, spacious rooms and complimentary shuttle service and we are glad you expressed this as well! Thank you again and we look forward to your next visit with us!

This Hotel did not look as I expected when I eventually found it being within a busy town as opposed to the advertising which looked as though it was within it's own grounds. The hotel was very pleasant on entry and the room was also good. Felt a little threatened at walking out after dark to eat but overall a good place to stay propr to cruising.
