My recent stay at SLS was very enjoyable. Nice location, good restaurants, and excellent rooms.
The valet service is outstandingly efficient - you never wait more than a couple of minutes to have your car and a cumplimentary bottle of mineral water for the road. The Concierge works very well.
The weak point is the breakfast buffet, with a por selection of fruits and healthy foods.

We loved our stay at SLS Beverly Hills. There were so many mixed reviews about the hotel I was hesitant on staying, I booked anyways and enjoyed. The service was incredible hotel staff always greeting you. The room was large with minimalist modern style, a bit dark but that's the style I guess. Hallways could use some updating. Hotel car service was great. Would stay here again.

You, as a customer would imagine that your hotel cost includes room, service and facilities.
As an average hotel guest, I expected that I would be able to swim in the swimming pool and eat at the hotel restaurant during typical lunch and dinner time.
Stayed 3 nights and every single day I have tried to use the pool. But every single day it was rammed packed that you could not even stand!
What was more interesting is that most of the people were not hotel guests!!!
Same goes for the restaurant1
In conclusion, without being able to use the facilities at this hotel you might be better off using a hotel WITHOUT swimming pool or restaurant.
How can it be "luxury" when the entire mass public can use the hotel facility and there is absolutely no guest priority!

Excellent service at a centrally located luxury hotel. The guests, especially at the pool, are so "L.A." In fact, the pool was so crowded with non-guests (locals?) that it was impossible to get a seat. The people watching, however, can't be beat. If you're looking for a quintessentially LA experience, this is definitely the place for you.
The major drawbacks (other than the overcrowded pool scene) were a dark bathroom, an unpleasant surgical sink, and an abundance of reflective surfaces in the room but no good mirror in a well lit place.

To compare with many of the reviews I read prior to this trip, I can say that a little from each ring true. We had a wonderful experience at this hotel. Arrival, easy to find and located right on La Cienega, it was easy to get to Melrose, Beverly Hills and head north to the Hollywood Hills from this hotel. The entire staff at the valet was welcoming, always attentive and we never had to wait for the car as long as we called ahead. Stacy checked us in at the front desk and found us a room even though we were about 2 hours earlier than check in time. The entire desk staff was friendly and helpful each time we entered the lobby/elevator area. A very nice gentleman called an hour our so after our arrival and told of us the options available since my husband had used a room upgrade. He located a suite on the second floor with a terrace outside and the staff transferred our belongings while we were out. The ambiance is very hip and dimly lit, but that is what they are known for, so we didn't have any problems with that. The bathroom layout is interesting, again shooting for a more fashionable than always practical appeal. Better lighting in the bathroom would be nice, but with all those mirrors, I am sure it is difficult from a design standpoint. Our room was always cleaned on a timely basis and turn-down service was offered nightly. We had no issues with noise, we barely saw anyone in the halls, although the lobby and outdoor area was always bustling. We did not use the pool, but the fitness and spa area looked very nice. I did notice within the room, some signs of wear and tear, there were some splatter stains on the curtains, but other than that, clean and polished! The last night we ordered room service, which was wonderful! Some of the best french fries we have ever had! Piping hot and fresh, very surprising for typical room service. In room dining gets and A+ Would absolutely stay at this property again.

I had a very enjoyable stay at the SLS - this was a first visit for me (based on a recommendation), and I liked it so much I've already booked a room for my next trip to LA.

From check-in to check-out, nothing was a problem. The staff were great, cleaners/room-service - you name it, people took pride and were genuine in their communication.

The room was big, stylish, and super clean. A large bathroom was nice and luxurious, and the food was simply outstanding.

Well located, with the Beverly Center a few minutes walk away, a supermarket next door - and access to great shopping, restaurants and so on in every direction.

The SLS is not cheap, but a clear case of "you get what you pay for" - and then some. A couple of weeks ago I stayed somewhere that cost half this, but wasn't half as good (not even 1/10th!) so the SLS seemed good value in that regard. Highly recommended!

First of all, the hotel is very dimly lit and so are the rooms. The 2 queen bedroom (room 359) was just like a rectangle with 2 beds and 2 sliding mirrored doors for a bathroom. There was a crack in the corner of the mirror in the bathroom that was poorly fixed. Also the bathroom floor under the sink was dirty. The bedroom was okay, nothing special. The lamp above the desk area was flickering. The location is okay. A 20-30 minute drive to Staples Center. I probably would recommend a different hotel if you are staying in the LA area.
