We were made to feel very welcome as soon as we walked through the door and the suite with two bedrooms was a great size for me, my husband and two teenagers. It was clean and adequately equipped with bath robes and gorgeous smelling toiletries. The free snacks available from reception at any time (as mentioned many times before) were a very welcome bonus and the extensive list of free to hire DVDs was handy. Wi fi is free and easy to log onto and we had a room at the back so it was quiet and the beds are extremely comfortable. Its in such a good location - only one block from Hollywood Boulevard with Graumans and the Kodak Theatre, an easy walk. The staff are incredibly helpful and couldn't do enough for us - they booked us onto a really fantastic tour with Archer's Tours - can't recommend Seann enough - his knowledge of Hollywood and the surrounding area was second to none. The complimentary continental breakfast was lovely and fresh and we ate that in our suite so the small amount of space at breakfast wasn't a problem. The recommended restaurants were spot on every time - Yamoshiro has the most fantastic view of LA at night and had the added bonus of the free hotel shuttle taxiing us there and back. The secure parking is a bargain at $10 a day and the fact that there are no lifts wasn't really a problem - there aren't that many steps and if it was a problem I'm sure the staff would have helped. Our only small gripe is the noisy AC but everything else eclipses this. We would definitely stay there again...

Although I'm from Northern California and don't really "know" SoCal - I was enlisted as tour guide for my Michigan cousins who's dream trip was to see Hollywood, LA, etc. This was about day four, I had been driving all day, we were at Santa Monica beach and couldn't find a hotel under $400.00 using all my assortment of iPad apps - and the closest opening was this place. I called them, they were SUPER nice on the phone, and had a brand new room that had just been opened after being remodeled. Wow did we luck out. We had three adults in our group, so we needed at least two beds. The room they gave us was a huge one bedroom apartment - full kitchen, dining room, living room, gorgeous double shower head bathroom, and bedroom with two luxurious queen beds. Big flat screen tv in bedroom and living room. When we checked in, very tired, we were greeted with a chilled glass of lemonade in a champaign flute, and nice, nice, nice people all the way around. When he asked us what we wanted from the mini-bar - that is was complimentary - my eyes widened in disbelief and fear that it was a trick - FREE? - yes - so we ordered several sodas, water, candy bars, and I don't remember what else - all free. The morning breakfast outside by the pool had real fresh brewed coffee - like the real stuff, great selection of delicious breakfast items - theyt looked homemade - real silverware, glasses, mugs, and a hostess walking around offering refills etc. If the place were a dump, I would have raved about it because of the service which was outstanding, throw in the reasonable price, and the incredible one bedroom apartment we had, and count me thrilled. Once of the nicest places I've ever stayed in, don't let the outside fool you.

Our second visit to Los Angeles and we did not consider any other option after our first experience at the Magic Castle 5 years ago. The service that so impressed us the first time around has not changed and the staff are the highlight of this Hotel. We had a two bedroom apartment and considering the location the price is reasonable. The kitchenette gives a welcome opportunity to cook for yourself and the only complaint we would have is that there are not enough utensils, crockery, pans etc for the four people the room accommodates. Otherwise an ideal hotel in a location close to the sights of LA with car parking, a laundry and with staff that are truly 5 star.

Firstly let me say that this is the only hotel we have stayed at in Los Angeles so cannot compare it with local competitors only with our expectations.

On the plus side the hotel is superbly located for the Hollywood sights - the fact that you are one side street away from Graumann's is fantastic. Another positive was the size of the adjoining two room suite. The staff were fabulous and the free snacks, soft drinks and popsicles by the poolside were a very welcome touch. There was secure parking (although unlike an earlier post this was not free for us !).

An easy improvement would be to give the exteriors and stairwells a new coat of paint.

Other things less easy to solve are the lack of lifts - getting the suitcases from the car park to the second floor nearly killed me - and the lack of space for the poolside breakfast.

But overall we were very satisfied.

Room Tip: Ask for room with pool facing balcony and away from the main road (Franklin Ave)

This is a wonderful hotel. It is not a trendy, spa hotel, to be sure, but even if I were a fan of that sort of hotel, this place would have changed my mind. It consists of mostly one and two bedroom apartments, with some studios sprinkled in (that seem to be the only non rave review rooms) My friend and I had a one bedroom with two beds and it was so spacious. Sizable living room, bathroom, dining room and kitchen and even a hallway with a well lit vanity table. They provide robes and nicely scented toiletries. As people have mentioned there is a free mini bar, which is no joke. We rolled in at 2am after a night on the town and asked for Reeses, snickers, M and M's, Fritos and Doritos and were handed a bag of all our requests promptly. They have a pretty large sized DVD rental list that contained plenty of recent releases and it was a great thing to break up our days and nights. The continental breakfast was yummy with fresh fruits (and not just apples and bananas) various good pastries, cereals, toast, juices, coffee and tea. The staff was very helpful and their shuttle was prompt and a great asset when trying to go to The Magic Castle and Yamashiro. I was surprised upon entering my room to find balloons, a amazing cake and card for my Birthday. While most tout this as a great family hotel, it also works well for singles coming to Hollywood for the nightlife. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is not a hotel snob.
