Pre-fixed courses with many dishes in small portion are not necessarily my favorite, however, this restaurant was impressive. About one third of dishes (except deserts) were vegitables, and even fish and meats have vegetables effectively accompanied. Ingredients are of high quality and textures are well thought out. Deliciousness and healthiness are compatible at this restaurant.

As I visited the restaurant driving a car, I could not drink alcohol. Instead I ordered a non-alcoholic cocktail named Fielenotes. Its ingredients are vegetable called sorrel, lemongrass, lime and celery. I had no idea how it would taste, however, I was pleased its slight bitterness was so good.

The restaurant is quite expensive and the location is inconvenient for tourists. However, if you are near San Jose, want to try creative foods and are prepared to spend handsome money, this restaurant is worth a visit.

A unique experience but not really worth a return visit or (at least on the night we went) up to the over the top hype. Service impeccable but the "March of the Waiters" (8 or 10 in a line) delivering courses from the kitchen got giggles from us both.
A small taste of a special small cheese flavored cracker (1 to a plate) was delicious but remarkably like a Cheese it. One oyster, one slow cooked egg,a bite of this and a bite of that make for a unique but pretentious evening. The wine was great!

What David Kinch and his team, including Cynthia Sandberg, are creating here is one of the absolute best culinary experiences in the world, IMHO, and embodies the best the West has to offer - with every single bite and its unique myriad of flavors, tastes and textures, exploding in your palate.

Over the years, they have found their way and perfected a cuisine like no other. Without pretension and fanfare (which I am happy about), but confidence, utmost care and heart (and that holds true as well for its wonderful service, for many years guided by Michael Kean, and now Esteban Garibay, and the expert wine pairings by Jeff Bareilles), and strongly based on what's absolutely ripe and bursting with flavors in the garden, they create miracles highlighting the abundance of California's land and sea.

Having said that, I feel that a visit to California without experiencing Manresa is a missed opportunity for anybody enjoying the culinary wonders of this World.

Don't let the magazines that list this place as the place to go in los gatos fool you. Locals do not dine here. the restaurant is extremely overpriced and only for those that want something that is so overly creative and unusual that you sometimes have to ask what it is. The serving sizes are appetizer size so prepare to go get pizza afterwards. Staff pretty snooty.

For the price I expect both the food and service to shine. This is probably a place worth going to once or twice for the food, but not for the service.
