“Great Escape On the California Coast”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 May 2013

I live only 30 minutes away from the Malibu Beach Inn and frequent the place for lunch or dinner.
My stay, albeit short, was very nice. The Inn makes for an outstanding few-day escape. The hotel is directly off of the PCH, but we barely noticed the traffic from the beach or restaurant and certainly not from our room.

Being someone who spends very little time in my room on trips, room size is of little importance to me. Room layout, however, I feel is important. The rooms at the Inn are plenty big if you've traveled to Europe. I thought the layout was perfect. We could look out the window onto the ocean from our bed and we're greeted with a stunning sunrise each morning.

The beach isn't private but it's nice to have personal service at a cost - roughly 15% is automatically included in the bill.

The Carbon Beach Club (the restaurant on the property) is outstanding. When we dined at night the tide was high enough that the waves touched underneath the deck.

I feel that the Inn would be limited for extended stays though. The property is tiny which definitely helps them maintain the amazing quality they do, but this is at the expense of a fitness center and a pool. If you're not an ocean person, you may have a hard time finding refreshment from the California heat.

The location is incredible, but for an extended California stay, it's not an ideal launching-off point if you don't have a car. You're fairly limited in where you can walk. If you do have a car and have to park it there each night, the cost will add-up.

Overall - the Malibu Beach Inn is an amazing experience for a short stay.

By a mile this is the best hotel I've stayed in. 5 star service from check in, room service to the cleaning staff! Everyone is friendly, you can tell this is a 5 star establishment And its worth every penny. Try and dine in the on site restaurant as the food is delicious and again the service is faultless, friendly yet authentic. The mini bar selection we had the champagne, which was reasonably price. They do daily free fruit, water and cookies :) if your thinking about staying here you will not regret it. If love to come back one day.

The bad: The rooms are small and the road noise large. For the amount I spent on my room, I would like not to hear a car alarm go off or the loud sound of the highway. The parking $27.00. (Try to find parking on the street, which is 20 feet outside the lobby of the hotel). I I also didn't like the time it took for someone to acknowledge us in the restaurant.. Moreover, the beach is small and deteriorating. The front desk guy couldn't answer a question about a charge on my bill, he had to call a manager, they kept me waiting which I didn't appreciate.

The good: The rooms are decorated nicely, and the views of the ocean are stunning.

Overall, I don't feel the price matches the quality. I am not a complainer, but I do hate feeling ripped off. But, that is just me.

I came on here to write a review and could not believe that there was even one bad review! I took my boyfriend here for a one night stay for his birthday, just a few weeks ago. Aside from the price, I loved this hotel. The rooms were very clean, kind of narrow, but included a nice fire place, plus the fabulous view. And the fact that there is a private beach for guests of the hotel, only, is great, too. The one downside of the place would definitely have to be the prices. For two pina coladas, and a plate of a few chips w/ salsa came out to over $50. What is kind of annoying is the fact that they include the tip in your bill I mean, do they really need to add the 15% tip to a little meal you eat on the beach? The next morning, we had breakfast at the restaurant overlooking the ocean, and it oddly came out cheaper than our two drinks with chips, but other than that, the breakfast was great. I've always been a sucker for nice views. Other than the fact that our one night stay + breakfast came out to a total of $800, (yeah, i know) it was a lovely little getaway. The views from the room and from the restaurant made for some great instagram photos, and every time I look at them, it makes me want to go back to the weekend we stayed here. I love this hotel, and don't think it should have the word "inn" attached to the end of it.

Oh, and no, there is no pool or fitness center, but that honestly didn't bother me at all like it did some people.

We were in Malibu for a meeting and decided to splurg on an oceanfront hotel.

Fantastic experience...from our first encounter with the valet...front desk...our oceanfront room...to our small dinner party at the resturant. All of our needs were met with an attentive and courteous staff!

If you would like a special experience, just ask! The staff will try to make it happen. We had very specific requests for our little dinner party. Jan and the rest of the staff made it the perfect evening for our group!

There are other choices for larger hotels in LA, but this hotel is intimate and on the beach. This hotel now goes down as one of our "Little Gems!"

What a place! Perfect setting, stunning rooms, excellent service

Stayed here for just one night on our way to Palm Springs and tbh, wanted to stay forever!

Turn down service was amazing, came back from our meal to find the beds sorted (we needed the sofa bed) coffee machine out, robes ready, chocolate gifts - we felt so well looked after and pampered. Nothing too much trouble for any of the staff

The only small downside and it is small - the food is, to my taste just average but didn't have any effect on my feelings about the place

Well done everyone! Hope to return in the future

Room Tip: Must be a sea view! Truly stunning

We stayed at this hotel last December for 2 nights and loved everything about it! Location could be difficult if you didnt have a car. However, they do have onsite parking and in the off season street parking is easily accessible. We have never stayed at a hotel that manages to cater to every possible need you may have in your hotel room before. Top quality furnishings and fittings - one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in and service above and beyond. Ice delivered to our room, drinks given to us by the doormen as we left! What more could you ask for. You could say that the hotel is pricey but we were lucky to get a greatly reduced rate online..however I would definitely say that it is worth paying the full price for as we loved every moment.
