Description: Duke's Malibu has brought the excitement of Hawaii, Waikiki, and surfing to the mainland. The spectacular oceanfront location on Pacific Coast Highway offers over 300 feet of romantic oceanfront dining and memorabilia from both Hawaii and California surfing history. The Barefoot Bar, looking south into the lights of Santa Monica, is a great spot for drinks and casual food with friends.

“Great view, fair menu”

Duke's is in a beautiful spot along the PCH in Malibu, right on the water with some fantastic views. A good place to stop in for a reasonably priced meal and some good beers on tap. Been here a few times and service is good. Food is fair, nothing overly spectacular, but serviceable and a worthwhile place to grab a bite and sit by the ocean.

“Unremarkable food with a nice ocean view, but there are better options nearby”
Reviewed 4 June 2014 via mobile

When you walk in, you hope it's not as predictably bland as it looks, but unfortunately, you end up disappointed. The decor is indeed dated (to put it mildly), and despite their best efforts to make it Hawaiian, it's doesn't work.

I ordered a fish sandwich (my mistake) that arrived on an industrial, un-toasted hamburger bun that was dry and a real let-down. The fish seemed fresh enough inside, but the packaged bread really killed the experience. It would be such a simple thing to remedy, but I wasn't motivated enough to send it back. Frankly, I didn't get the impression that they were capable of improving much of anything.

The view is nice enough, but this place feels like a Carrows or some other national chain that's been plunked on the coast, and had prices jacked up for the view. A better bet is the remodeled Gladstones down the road. It's not any cheaper, but the food and the view is better.

Look, I don't mind paying more for a view, but the food should be decent. Hawaii has insane pricing too, but the food there is awesome. What the heck is this at Duke's?

Don't wait in line for this place either. It's definitely not worth that. Drive a bit further North or South and satisfy your appetite.

On a side note, the Barefoot Bar (next door, but part of Duke's) is a fun place for a snack and drink as you watch the sun go down. Just make sure you bring enough cash. Malibu pricing is in effect.

A must go when in Malibu. Great service with a great view. Try the seafood salad and enjoy the crowd and the ocean.

“Crowded and expensive parking”
Reviewed 3 June 2014 credit card Amex Cardmember Review

The food was average and the place looks outdated. Nothing spectacular and not worth the long wait. Maybe, I'll try to go during the week to see if it's less crowded.

“Lovely location, good food, nice staff”
Reviewed 31 May 2014

We were driving up the coast and decided to stop for lunch. Beautiful location and inviting atmosphere. We ordered the curry clams, fish and chips and fish tacos. Everything was delicious. Our server Katlin was very nice and provided excellent service. Highly recommended. Will return. Beautiful views.
