“Very Basic Accommodations”
Reviewed 28 February 2013

Our room was clean - bed was comfortable. There were 2 plastic chairs and a shelving unit to use as a closet. The bathroom was very small. We could clearly hear the conversation in the room next door and my husband thought I was having a shower in the morning - it was the next room shower. Morning traffic starting around 5:00 am is very noisy as well. I can't say we would have stayed here if we had seen the room before we paid.

The room was pleasant, nice balcony however noisy road as the motel is on the pacific highway. No air con but ceiling fan. No coffee/tea facilities. Large bathroom, very stylish. Comfy bed. Good price for 1 nights stay. Excellent beachs.

Room Tip: Second floor over looking pool was nice.

This is a very modern motel, large wooden floors.  The Ocean view was only just there, at an angle obscured by planting and building on other side of road so don't book a room purely on the basis of an ocean view. Balcony very small not big enough to swing a cat on, no chairs to sit out on.

Room has a fridge, but no air conditioning just a ceiling fan.   No in room coffee or coffee in reception/office.  You have to ask for iron or hair dryer.  On first look bathroom looks really good, but unless you are 4ft the mirror over the sink serves no real purpose.  Towels in bathroom do not match, neither do the complimentary toiletries giving it an unorganised, thrown together feel.  The walk-in cubicle shower screams quality just shame about the water pressure which is pathetic.

Noise from road audible in room as was singing from lady in room next door, coughing from lady in room other side, and any movement from either side or those above.  Walls are paper thin.

Good points were nicely decorated, clean and comfortable bed.  But massively overpriced at $160 a night exc. tax with no breakfast included.

Room Tip: Go to another hotel first because the traffic noise and paper thin walls do not assist sleep

This place Is cute and clean. There is a very beautiful walkway behind the hotel that gives beautiful views of the ocean. The only negative advice I would give to fellow travelers is that this place has no air conditioning and the windows have coverings that allow all light to come through. But remember, I say this after choosing to stay a second night.

This is my second time staying in Malibu motel. I don't understand some of the reviews!!! If you're staying in Malibu you have to spend at list $500 to enjoy your stay, so what is this much expectation for the money you're paying in Malibu motel!!!! Malibu motel is on the PCH (I know it's a little bit nosey & no coffee maker) but you should know which rooms are more quite (further from highway / 3rd floor) it is so afordable, nice & clean. They have a really helpful staff and everything is around, restaurant/market/pizza...
I think you should try this place & compare it with Malibu’s hotel & prices not with somewhere else.

A geometrically innovative layout and modern industrial decor were pleasant surprises from this outwardly unpretentious motel. With a partial ocean view and a balcony, my 2nd floor room granted me the "weekend at the "beach" ambience.
Unfortunately, the beach was across the PCH and not easily accessed. The walls were thin, the highway loud, and the cacophany of clippity cloppity footsteps through hardwood floors from above was relentless. Noise pollution aside, there was a charming lookout with chairs and tables on the hillside above. The pool area was fairly nice, but lacked a spa. All in all, with a lower price and/or better insulation, I might give the 3rd floor a chance next time.

This motel is in a good location with restaurants, groceries, etc.
The furnishings are very sparse and there are no wash clothes, and they do not have ice. Their parking lot is small. It was clean. There are no closets in the rooms, just a frame to hang things. There is a nice small pool area. It is not the motel's fault, but the whole area for a block or two had a bad raw sewage smell. Maintenance is suspect. Toilet leaked and one light bedside light was out and did not get fixed after staff was notified. The rooms have a small balcony. Drapes do not keep light out.
