“Budget Value”
Reviewed 26 June 2014

I booked this hotel since it is not too far from LAX and the beach. Before we even got there, Sirvano from the hotel was doing a great job. Our flight had been delayed by several hours. Before I could call the Seahorse, Sirvano called me on my cell kindly making sure that we would still be arriving and ensuring that our room would be available when we arrived at close to 2:00am. The gentleman at the night desk was very nice when we finally got there. The room was clean and was simply, yet cheerfully, decorated. The Mexican restaurant on the property makes delicious food and the staff there were very nice. In the morning after we checked out, it only took a few minutes to drive down to the beach where my kids and I spent time enjoying the sand and surf.

This is not a fancy hotel. It's a budget motel that offers access to a great beach location and convenient driving distance to a major airport. It's a great value for the location.

This is probably the worst place I have ever and I'm a seasoned traveller. I've backpacked, camped, done the whole hostel thing in various countries... And this is probably the worst place for the price. Don't listen to the other submissions here saying that this place is a good deal, they must be friends with the owner.

This place reminds me of Dallas Buyers Club when Matthew Mcconaughey's character lives in a motel and does all his dealings there. The entrance to the bathroom smells like urine. I'm fearful of sleeping on the bed as I might catch something. I'm currently looking for other places to stay tonight. Luckily I'm only here for one night if all else fails.

The owner is nice and apologetic but that doesn't make this place any better. DO NOT stay here, trust me.

Very convenient location. Was there over 10 yrs ago but there was an excellent coffee shop (careful crossing road those - extremely busy highway) directly across the street and I still crave the western omelettes from the onsite restaurant. Definitely handy having the restaurant on premises. Motel is in walking distance to ocean and restaurants. Is a basic motel. Had a pool though. If I was fortunate enough to return to this area again, I would hands down stay here. Highly recommend if you are looking for basic accommodations to spend your money on your vacation, not necessarily your accommodations. Management was friendly and responsive.

We have been staying there since 2000! On our way to northern Cali to visit our son....
A family run businee with warm welcome and good rooms at reasonable prices...
No breakfast but restaurant on premises...
Only things missing are a clock and coffee maker!
Warmly recommend it....

Room Tip: Rooms facing east are larger....

After some years have passed we had occasion to visit LA again and headed to good ole Seahorse...the rooms are still as clean as before and the bathrooms seem to have had an upgrade of the shower stalls...the free WIFI which works in your room not some distant lobby was FAST and made our restaurant and attractions research a breeze.
Prices are still very reasonable and its a few minutes drive to POSH and expensive Manhattan Beach for a beachfront stroll...
We visited Rock and Fish Restaurant (Great.!!)....Good Stuff at Hermosa for breakfast....and went to the Beverly Wilshire (Pretty Woman) for breakfast....then the next day to 208 Rodeo...the Breakfast at Tiffany's restaurant on via Rodeo...
Of course we could do all that because Sehorse Inns prices are reasonable and we like to spend on attractions not sleep..!!
This is good solid accommodation....classic American Motel so if you believe in the tooth fairy stay away and leave this classic to us "affordable" travellers who know a no frills deal when we see one...!! AND they may get a website going this year..!! The big roadside sign makes finding it day or night a snap..!!

Room Tip: We have stayed in several all were good.....

This was our last night in LA and it was marathon day so we didn't want to get stuck in the bad traffic and risk missing the flight. So this place is perfect for the airport. And perfect too as a base for exploring south LA beaches and towns. We drove down to Redondo, Hermosa and the exclusive estates of Palos Verdes. This is an amazing part of LA, so different to the main bits. The motel is an archetypal US motel, straight from a low budget movie, or Coen Brothers. Sadly the pool was closed due to a change in state laws that says every pool now needs to have two pumps. Clearly this pool had one pump. And remained shut. At 69 dollars a night I can't imagine they'll be excavating the pool foundations to put another pump in for some time. In the car park is a Mexican cafe that opens for breakfast. It was great. Across the road was a Mongolian eat as much as you like restaurant. That wasn't too great. But it was popular with the locals. The Seahorse Motel had good sized rooms, good bathroom, and did the job perfectly.

Room Tip: Rooms facing south will get the morning sun. My room facing north was very cool in the morning. Whic...
