My wife and I tend to travel a lot, and I do like to review hotels when I am surprised or impressed. Well... we were both extremely "surprised and Impressed" with this hotel. For us, the beds (and bedding) stood out the most. The beds and pillows were so comfortable! We both slept so well that we opted to take naps during the day... and we don't take naps!

And to reiterate what others have said, the staff was very friendly... The tasty breakfast buffet was really more than a buffet since there were made-to-order items such as omelets and french toast... We felt the rooms were very nicely decorated and rather spacious... And it is always nice to have the free wi-fi.

But i have to keep going back to those beds...

Although the rooms were nice, the housekeeping kept leaving the balcony doors unlocked. The location was good, and the restaurant was great. Unfortunately, our pristine, damage-free car somehow received damage after we left it with a valet. The car was at the hotel less than 24 hours, and was damage-free before arriving. To make a long story short, the hotel's insurance denied any damage based on surveillance footage (although the footage, they admitted, didn't capture "every detail." The hotel never explained which valet wrote down the "existing" damage, the time it was written down, because the damage appeared to be "documented" by a valet later than check-in, etc. Cameras did not show a valet inspecting the vehicle at check-in, although the key tag said there was damage at check-out). If you park a vehicle at this hotel, do yourself a favor: inspect your vehicle with the valet, and see what damage they write down. Agree on what the damage is. Take pictures of your vehicle at check-in. Therefore, if one of the valets hits your car later, you will know when they are lying if they try to document the damage later.

It was my first time staying at the Belamar Hotel in Manhattan Beach and I was nothing short of impressed. We were greeted in the lobby by friendly happy faces eager to answer any questions we might have concerning amenities available at the hotel. The guest rooms are beautifully appointed with a calming color scheme, comfortable bed and down-filled bedding. Although next to a busy Sepulveda Blvd, it was very quiet and peaceful and I slept beautifully. The bathroom offers toiletries by Philosophy that remind you to 'Celebrate Life' and there is an old fashioned style phone bed side, both of which are charming added touches. They have a lovely courtyard and swimming pool with hot tub along with wonderful comfy appointments throughout the common areas to sit, lounge and relax. This boutique hotel has an edgy, hip, yet very comfortable feel to it. I really enjoyed viewing the many oversized framed art work of Bella the 'Barbiesque type mascot' hanging throughout the hotel. I especially liked that they have free wifi available in the rooms and that there are ample beach cruiser bicycles (with baskets attached to the handlebars!) available to borrow just outside to the right of the main entrance. A very nice touch is the fruit infused 'spa water' available at all times in the lobby from an apothecary type beverage server that is self-serve. The hotel is a few minutes bike ride or a 15 minute walk to Manhattan Beach and is just 10 minute drive to/from LAX. It's just a charming hotel, with a great vibe and within walking distance to shops and restaurants right across Supelveda Blvd at the Manhattan Village shopping center. And with the beach and airport just minutes away makes choosing to stay at this top notch boutique hotel a no brainier. I Love the Belamar Hotel!

I have been meaning to write a well deserved review for this hotel when we stayed here back in April. We absolutely loved it here! First site of the hotel from the street does not do it justice since you cannot see much of it until you pull in back and realize you are in a nice, safe residential neighborhood. I truly believe that your hotel can set the tone of your vacation and in this case it was perfect and exactly what we needed. My husband & I prefer boutique type unique hotels, instead of large chain high rises, and this hotel is exactly that. All of the little extra touches they provide go a long way...fruit infused water in the lobby, feather comforter & lots of pillows, iPod docking station, a beautiful courtyard, meticulous outdoor pool with comfy lounge chairs and trendy stripe towels, vintage decorations in the room, Philosophy branded toiletries, etc. The staff was very friendly and didn't mind our constant in and out with having to valet our car. They always brought it to us with a smile and quickly. They were eager to give suggestions of what to do in the area and always greeted us with a "Welcome Back" upon our return (always opening my door too)! I loved that our room faced the courtyard and one night while getting ready for dinner we got to witness a beautiful wedding going on. I felt safe and at home while getting the luxury treatment. The hotels location is a quick drive from the airport and to the beautiful Manhattan Beach and main drag. We had no problem driving back and forth multiple times a day. I will definitely take the 15 minute trail walk next time we stay here but we had a convertible so took any opportunity to drive that around and usually were planning on exploring more of the area each day we left;) My only problem is how soon we can return for another stay!! Manhattan Beach and The Belamar are top notch!

Room Tip: We loved our room that faced the beautiful courtyard!

I have stayed here before and once again, it did not disappoint. Great staff . My room was very clean and nicely turned down every night. I would definitely recommend this hotel to my friends. I have a minor complaint...the coffee in the restaurant is not very good. A minor suggestion ... A van ride to downtown MB would be nice . Otherwise, good spot.

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the courtyard...quiter.

Hotel Belamar was really nice. First of all, with a late flight into L.A., the location is great, only about 10 minutes from the airport. Check-in was smooth, and all the staff, and I mean all the staff that we interacted with were great. They were all very friendly and helpful people - the housekeeping staff even greeted us. The room was pretty spacious (especially for L.A.), with a comfortable king bed, plenty of night table space, and a nice bathroom. Interesting if not a bit unusual paintings of, I think, female dolls (??) on the walls, but overall nice décor. And a good restaurant and good location. Very reasonable rate as well! I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for the quiet side (we did) when you book.
