“Nice Marriott - Good Location”
Reviewed 9 March 2012

Very nice lobby and bar area. Well maintained hotel. Friendly front desk staff. I like Marriott beds and this one was comfortable. The bathrooms have been remodeled, and the bath tubs have been replaced with large showers. Others have commented on the lack of towel bars - I was thinking the little hooks on the light fixture might be meant to hang towels?? My room faced the golf course, so it was a pretty view. The pool area is adjacent to the golf course and it is a pretty setting. As usual the parking is overpriced. As usual there is a fee for internet (unless you are gold reward) - and this makes no sense at all, the infrastructure for internet service is no greater than that to watch TV (probably less) but there is no fee for that. Speaking of TVs...there is an HDTV, but the programming is analogue. They have High Def in the bar, why not the room? Hopefully this gets updated soon. There is a small shopping center close by that is walkable, with a couple of restaurants and a grocery store. If you don't like what's here, better be ready to drive as things are spread out around here.

Decor a little outdated, but immaculately maintained. Wonderful location just south of LAX, a mile from the beach, shopping close by. The room was clean and comfortable and everything worked as it should.

Staff was approachable and friendly, but not too much so. They really went out of their way to help, taking full responsibility for recovering our money from a consolidator, which was not easy to do. (My husband had not been aware the organization he was speaking to at the meeting was paying our hotel bill.)

I also loved hearing, "My pleasure" instead of the ubiquitous "No problem!"

The panoramic view from the lobby of the golf course and pond was lovely. The ballroom meeting room was comfortable, except wi-fi didn't work in it.

Self-park was easy in a covered garage with direct access to the hotel. Lots of local shops and eateries, convenient to everything. Food was terrific too.

We just returned from a 3-night stay. We have stayed here before and return because of the hotel's convenient location, the quality of the room & bed, and room prices.
The Good: location (close to LAX, shops, food), Marriott quality, comfortable bed, friendly staff, clean room, free wifi in lobby only, cookies at front desk in evening, walk to Bristol Farms for breakfast or food items, pool, golf.
The Bad: Way over-priced parking charge ($21/day), charge for internet in rooms, noisey A/C woke us up, could hear elevator noise at night, our room didn't get cleaned one day.

Our room was renovated with a new shower. However, the bathroom is lacking counter space and towel bars &/or hooks, or maybe even an open shelf under the vanity. There was no place to put even our hand towels! This seems to be the trend in renovations. It looks stylish, but is not practical.

The good points outweigh the bad ones, and we will probably return again next year.

Room Tip: The drone of the elevators can be heard from rooms in the vacinity. We were across the hallway, but...

I recently stayed at the Manhattan Beach Marriott for one night while in LA. I've stayed at this hotel several times before and was very happy with the hotel again.

Rooms are good size with comfortable beds, good TV and good air conditioning. The bathroom has recently been redone and looks great - although it now only has a shower instead of a bath.

Wireless internet worked well, although it was pretty expensive when you consider that a lot of the other hotels now offer it free.

Location is great - especially if on a quick layover in LA. Its only a 10-15 minute drive to LAX and there is overnight parking ($21 with the ability to go in and out as you want). There is a Bristol Farms next door and lots of great restaurants in easy walking distance (Cozymels, PF Changs, McCormick and Schmicks, etc).

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view over the golf course - very peaceful

Good hotel only 10 minutes drive from Los Angeles Airport I purchased a ticket with the Shuttle and it cost me $18 USD. The hotel was clean, quiet, and staff friendly. The hotel is about half an hour walking distance to Manhattan Beach I took the walkway just near Macey's. Lots of people use the walkway so I felt safe it is a nice area lots of lovely properties to view along the way. There are three small malls nearby one has Macey's, Victoria Secret etc, another has H&M, Banana Republic, Dicks Sporting Goods etc and in the other direction I found Barnes & Noble, Old Navy and further along Rosecrans Ave there is a Costco that took me about 30 minutes to walk to. Golf Course on site if you enjoy a game of golf. Would be handy if you have business in the adjacent area. Lots of places to dine and some good places nearby for massage, hair, and nails so you can treat yourself while hubby plays a round of golf.

Room Tip: You may prefer the Golf Course view to looking out towards Rosecrans Ave.

From the photo for this property on their website, I expected more of a "resort" feel near the beach. Yes there is an executive golf course and pool on the back side of the hotel but you must be sure to ask for that view rather than the front which is a parking lot and busy commercial street. It is a drive to the little beach town of Manhatten Beach. Having gotten a good package including parking and breakfast the price was reasonable, the reception staff very helpful. The remodeled bathrooms are nicely done, the old bathtubs removed with a shower in place. The rooms/balconies have not yet been refurbished. There was no furniture on the balcony due to the upcoming remodel. The pool area is pleasant. Overall this is a reasonably priced property only a few miles from LAX conveniently located near the 405 freeway, shopping, movies and restaurants within walking distance.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask for a room with a view over the back side of the hotel.

I've been traveling to this property once a year for a meeting for many years. The location is gorgeous (on a golf course), the convenience to LAX is great (a relatively cheap taxi ride), you can walk to the beach (if you have a couple hours), the bartenders are gracious and wonderful, and there are wonderful beds. That's the good news. The bad news is, from my perspective, there is an annoying mechanical drone in the rooms (even with the A/C off that makes it hard for me to sleep), the food in the restaurant is so-so and very overpriced (21. for a mediocre Sunday brunch -- thank god for Bristol Farms a short walk away), and the place (again, for me) is always chilly and breezy inside -- I need a sweater and a shawl, and I'm from Portland, OR! But if these things don't bother you -- and it's pretty funny what bothers us, I'm learning! -- you can do a lot worse. If you're a golfer, this would be a great locale.
