This is a very nice Marriott, located fairly close to LAX, yet just far enough away so that traffic and airport noise are no problem. The property has a beautiful front entrance and huge lobby, nicely appointed and boasting a large and lively lobby bar. The lobby overlooks the lush golf course. There is a large outdoor pool, with cabanas provided, and also a nice hot tub. The hotel staff is well trained and extremely friendly. The guest rooms are generously sized and all the amenities one expects from Marriott with one exception: there is no in-room safe provided, which in this day and age has become a must-have for most frequent travelers. The downtown area of Manhattan Beach is just a few miles away, and offers some nice casual California beachy type restaurants. On departure it is wonderful to be only 15 minutes to LAX, or 5 minutes to the 405.

A very nice location in many respects, but somewhat typical of large older Marriotts, lots of add on fees, topped by $21 a day for parking. On the plus side it is less than 2 miles from the beach, and the golf course side rooms have a nice balcony and view, but at least ours had no chairs on it. Oddly and unlike Mariotts there was no hotel information in the room, so we did not know what restaurants and services were even available. Unless we missed it somewhere it appears the only restaurant is a 'cafe' style restaurant that does have a nice patio on the golf course, and for breakfast and lunch was pricey but very good. It is just far enough from the beach to be too long of a walk, but there is a nice bike/jogging trail we discovered that bypasses having to walk on the highway. The hotel has a nice bike rental program with a $30 price tag for a 24 hour rental (not bad compared to some). The rooms were nice but not specatacular or large. Lots of restaurants in the area.

Room Tip: Golf course side of the hotel, you have a balcony with a nice view, and quieter

I have stayed at this hotel about four maybe five times in the last six months. If you get the AAA discount or similar, the price is reasonable, but then you get the room with the ugly view instead of the nice view of the golf course. I hate to pay $21 for parking ($26 for valet) but the one thing I like the least is the falseness of the employees. This is common in chain hotels like this one, not luxury hotels but big, large with a reputation. I guess they train their employees to say things they are far from really meaning, and that bugs me. If you do not really really mean it, do not say it. This applies to almost everyone except bellman, they have always been excellent. I am not sure if I will be coming back.

Room Tip: Pricewise, AAA offers a good discount. Also, if you go with a car and plan to leave about checkout...

If you're a family or normal traveler looking for value from a hotel, you'll be disappointed. They nickel, or more like dollar and dime you to death. Massive, unnecessary parking fees. It's a decent location if you're a business traveler: close driving distance to the airport and the metro so if you can expense the parking and internet, fine. But don't expect to just wake up and walk to the beach: It's about 2 miles away (mapquest it!) Parking on the beach can be tough. Plenty of restaurants in a shopping center closeby. Room very ordinary.

Just a few days before, we had spent some time at a Marriott Suites up in Los Angeles. Totally different experience: A living room, free internet, and a kitchenette.

There are other hotels closer to the beach (many a mile away or closer) with no massive parking fee ($21 at this time for the Marriott), free internet but no golf course. If you can live without the golf course, consider one of those.

Very nice lobby and bar area. Well maintained hotel. Friendly front desk staff. I like Marriott beds and this one was comfortable. The bathrooms have been remodeled, and the bath tubs have been replaced with large showers. Others have commented on the lack of towel bars - I was thinking the little hooks on the light fixture might be meant to hang towels?? My room faced the golf course, so it was a pretty view. The pool area is adjacent to the golf course and it is a pretty setting. As usual the parking is overpriced. As usual there is a fee for internet (unless you are gold reward) - and this makes no sense at all, the infrastructure for internet service is no greater than that to watch TV (probably less) but there is no fee for that. Speaking of TVs...there is an HDTV, but the programming is analogue. They have High Def in the bar, why not the room? Hopefully this gets updated soon. There is a small shopping center close by that is walkable, with a couple of restaurants and a grocery store. If you don't like what's here, better be ready to drive as things are spread out around here.

Decor a little outdated, but immaculately maintained. Wonderful location just south of LAX, a mile from the beach, shopping close by. The room was clean and comfortable and everything worked as it should.

Staff was approachable and friendly, but not too much so. They really went out of their way to help, taking full responsibility for recovering our money from a consolidator, which was not easy to do. (My husband had not been aware the organization he was speaking to at the meeting was paying our hotel bill.)

I also loved hearing, "My pleasure" instead of the ubiquitous "No problem!"

The panoramic view from the lobby of the golf course and pond was lovely. The ballroom meeting room was comfortable, except wi-fi didn't work in it.

Self-park was easy in a covered garage with direct access to the hotel. Lots of local shops and eateries, convenient to everything. Food was terrific too.

We just returned from a 3-night stay. We have stayed here before and return because of the hotel's convenient location, the quality of the room & bed, and room prices.
The Good: location (close to LAX, shops, food), Marriott quality, comfortable bed, friendly staff, clean room, free wifi in lobby only, cookies at front desk in evening, walk to Bristol Farms for breakfast or food items, pool, golf.
The Bad: Way over-priced parking charge ($21/day), charge for internet in rooms, noisey A/C woke us up, could hear elevator noise at night, our room didn't get cleaned one day.

Our room was renovated with a new shower. However, the bathroom is lacking counter space and towel bars &/or hooks, or maybe even an open shelf under the vanity. There was no place to put even our hand towels! This seems to be the trend in renovations. It looks stylish, but is not practical.

The good points outweigh the bad ones, and we will probably return again next year.

Room Tip: The drone of the elevators can be heard from rooms in the vacinity. We were across the hallway, but...
