“Very nice rv spot.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 September 2013 via mobile

Stayed here before, had good experience then also. Jane at front desk was awesome. Have a 26 ft rv and a tow vehicle. Ample space with fire pit and table. Hookups were good. Quiet spot. Beach is short walk. Price was about 70.00 a night. Great bike path close by. Location is good for monterey peninsula. Bathrooms were fine. We'll be back.

The Marina Dunes RV (somewhat) recently changed hands and the place has taken a serious nose dive. It was always right on the freeway and cramped together, but you expect that when camping so close the ocean. Since the ownership change, the place is just filthy, especially the bathrooms. Not only are they dirty, but there's a foul odor that just won't go away. At the outrageous prices they charge, we won't be back.

They placed us in the smallest spot even after I advised about the size our trailer. They were not helpful and said there were no extra spots even though it was their error. We attempted to park out trailer but their trees were not trimmed and a large tree branch scraped the side of our trailer. There was severe damage. When I went to the office to advise of what happened, they were unsympathetic and advised they were not responsible. The site was really made for a tent and car not a trailer. There were no trailers currently parking in the spots only a car and a tent. I asked for there insurance info since it was their low tree that caused the damage and they refused. I asked why were the trees to low if they know that trailers are going to be parked there. No response other than campers park there all the time.

Was able to get a full refund after complaining but it was not a great experience. Watch out for the tress. They are all very low and not properly trimmed!!

Good for an over night stay if you don't care about freeway noise, ancient hook ups for water and electricity and very little ambience. Sites 50-55 are in the best location so try to get them. Staff seemed uninterested, no pride of ownership apparent.

If you like camping next to the freeway and the noise go for it. The bathrooms were not clean. An error was made with our site reservation. We requested a site to accomadate a "tent trailer". They booked us for a tent site. The tent area was very small and would not accomadate a tent trailer. Fortunately they had another spot available which we were able to have, slightly upgraded with out a charge. Other than the freeway noise and dirty bathrooms the location, near the beach, and facilities were nice

We enjoy staying at Marina Dunes so much that it has become a summer tradition for about 4 years running! The location can't be beat: there is so much to see and do on the peninsula, and Marina Dunes provides a great base camp from which to do it--not to mention the park itself is located right across the street from the dunes and beach! Yes, the 101 does run along one side of the park, but I don't know of too many RV parks that aren't located near freeways for the convenience of RV drivers. The payoff is very private campsites with shrubs and hedges between each space, so that you feel like you have lots of privacy. Campsites are also outfitted with picnic tables and chimineas/fire pits. Although they don't have pull-thru sites, it's well worth backing into a space to stay there. 50 amp, sewer, cable available. Also a nice playground for the kids and great places for dog-walking. Laundry facilities are good, but we use the shower in our RV, so can't speak to that. If you want to visit Monterey, Pacific Grove, Cannery Row, etc., you'd be hard pressed to find a more convenient and pleasant place to camp. There is also access to Elkhorn Slough to the north, and lots of stands with freshly grown fruits and vegetables. Definitely worth a stay!
