“Lovely city/oceanview wedding venue”
Reviewed 28 September 2011

My husband and I had our wedding reception at the Marina del Rey Marriott and was very pleased with the professionalism of the staff, but also because the hotel is simply lovely. Although there are indoor ballrooms available for the ceremony, they have an outdoor ceremony area on the top floor of the hotel, which overlooks the cityscape and on a nice, uncloudy day, you can see the Pacific Ocean. We also chose this hotel because we could take very nice wedding pictures indoors in their beautiful lobby area and in their very swanky outdoor/indoor bar area. As part of our wedding package, we receiving free valet parking for all our guests, tasty strawberries/champagne in our suite, and the food was very scrumptious, especially their appetizers. The rooms are very clean and organized, and the staff was friendly.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights in September 2011.
The hotel is situated across the road from the Marina, we were lucky to have a room that over looked the Marina.
Staff are friendly. If you are hiring a car they do offer parking services but be aware there is a charge to park you car $28 per night. We didn't realise this until we received our final bill!
We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel.

The lobby is beautiful. Parked across street that parking is half the price. very close to LAX. had the back view, not marina, which was beautiful---ocean, mountains, and city. Don't pay extra for marina, we listened to the hotel staff. We were on the top floor---bad place to be on a weekend night as they are constantly having events above that are outdoor. So it is very loud. Also, the last morning, someone started doing construction loud drilling right on our balcony. we had to draw the blinds, and no way to sleep in---still renovating the hotel. didn't check out the lounge, but there was a line. Walked to Venice beach about 30 minutes, so a bit far. But beautiful. Not many people walking on that walk, but it is LA after all. There is a shuttle, but only on weekends and during summer only.

Room Tip: skip the upgraded marina view. get the back side to see mountains, ocean, and city

Initially we had rented a vacation rental property in nearby Venice beach. Upon arrival we discovered that the owner had pulled a bait-and-switch on us and given us an older, run-down unit than the one we had rented. After a failed attempt to convince ourselves that it would not be so bad, we ended up requesting a refund and heading to the Marriott in Marina del Rey.

We could not have asked for a better outcome to our condo debacle. We arrived at the Marriott not even 30 minutes after our reservation had been made and everything was in order. The staff at the hotel are second to none and were sympathetic to our situation. The chilled bottles of water in our cup holders everytime the valets pulled our car up front was a great touch.

The location of the hotel is perfect. Close to both Venice and Santa Monica where amazing restaurants and shopping are plentiful. Be sure to walk along the Venice canals to check out the houses and Abbot Kinney for awesome nightlife. If you don't feel like venturing very far, grab a drink by the fire in the Glow lounge, located right off the hotel lobby.

Thank you to the GM and the entire Marriott Marina del Rey staff for saving our vacation! We will be back!

Room Tip: Marina view is lovely in the morning. Also neat to watch all the planes flying into LAX lined up at...

Valet parking (the only option) is $28 a day and the guys still want some tips, internet is $13.95 a day while ice machines were not working on our floor and the next floor. Vending machine swallowed my kids' money and did not get anything. No money returned either. Dissatisfied.

My husband and I ended up at this hotel after booking through Priceline. We were trying for Santa Monica but Marina del Rey is lumped in with Santa Monica, so you very well may end up here if you go that route - and it's about a $15 cab ride to Santa Monica.
We arrived at around 10:30 PM on a Friday, and were put in a room on the city side of the hotel which is directly over their outdoor ultra lounge party on Friday and Saturday nights. The noise from the lounge made it impossible to sleep until about 2 AM, and the hotel was sold out, so unfortunately we couldn't move rooms. If I hadn't paid in advance with Priceline I would gotten my money back and left. The hotel staff did all they could for us, and were very apologetic. I am sure they get this a lot on the ultra lounge party nights.
They did move us the next day to the other side, overlooking the marina, and it was very quiet with a nice view. A completely different experience.
The food we had was okay - ate in the lobby lounge, and room service for breakfast one day. Overall, we were satisfied once we had the quieter room, but honestly we didn't even save much booking through Priceline, and I will be hesitant to use them again very soon. I would say I was unhappier with Priceline than the hotel. All staff we encountered at the hotel were pleasant and friendly, the room was clean, and the bed and linens comfortable. Lobby area is updated and very nice, rooms are in need of updating soon.

Room Tip: Request marina view, and especially on Friday or Saturday night.

I had a business event in the area and looked for a Marriott or Hilton that was reasonable and had good Tripadvisor reviews. It was a very good stay. I was facing the Marina, had a sliding door to a step out balcony and was in walking distance of good restaurants and the beach. The location is so close to the airport that you can reach it in minutes using side streets. Other reviews mentioned that the rooms are a little worn and that was true. The lobby and first floor was beautiful and the hallways were great, but the sheers were a little torn and there were spots on the draperies. This didn't fit with the general overall attractive place. Staff was helpful and car hops anxious to please. There was a woman who was complaining to the desk that her family, including little ones, were in rooms over the lounge area and sleep until about 3 am was difficult. So ask not to be placed there.

Room Tip: ask for a room facing the marina - and not over the lounge area
