My husband and I just returned from our trip to Mariposa. We heard the 5th Street Inn was nice, so I booked the Retreat room. The room was beautiful, with a huge, high 4 poster bed, a large jacuzzi and all the comforts of home. So clean. We didn't want to leave. Thank you 5th Street Inn for making our long weekend magical.

Room Tip: The room called 'The Retreat' was wonderful.

We have stayed at The Fifth Street Inn several times. This year we stayed in the newly remodeled Terrace Suite. We stayed there in the past and were quite comfortable, but now with the remodel, we were amazed. Everything is so nice and new. There is now a 3rd full bathroom to help getting ready in the morning go easier with a large group. The open kitchen is perfect for visiting with others. The staff is very friendly and always ready to help with any questions you might have. I loved my stay and plan to say again as soon as we can get there.

Room Tip: The Terrace Suite is perfect for a family while giving the parents some privacy for "quiet"...

The 5th St. Inn is an old Victorian house made into a hotel. The room was very small: there was a bed, two night stands, a small closet, one chair, and a bathroom. The bathroom was half the size of the room and was newer in décor. The tv reception was fuzzy, and half the channels listed didn't come in.
When guests came in at night I could hear their voices and their TV's through the paper thin walls.
I was there for an event at the Mariposa Fairgrounds so the location was convenient. I went to a local restaurant in the morning to get oj and coffee since the hotel offers nothing in the morning.
It is a very basic accommodation for 139.00 per night; I did not feel this was a great deal for the money spent for the stay. I would probably spend the night elsewhere if I returned to Mariposa to stay the night as a guest.

Stayed for four days in mid- Sept. for a visit to Yosemite with another couple. We were originally going to stay off rt120 but due to the fire that entrance was closed. We stayed in the Sequoia and the others in the Bridalveil. The Inn was nice and clean with very comfortable beds and huge rooms. Bridalveil has a full kitchen so the four of us were able to make breakfast and pic-nic lunchs. All new appliances worked great including dishwasher. Dishes and glassware good but there was not one decent fry pan out of the four- all old and very scratched up.
Sequoia is very large with 2 Queens and a pull out could have had a family of 6. Also has a handicap bathroom , and ramp to door- no steps. If you are a light sleeper- Be aware that quite a bit of outside light comes in through the windows on the top of the door and through shades -even when tightly drawn. Outside lights cannot be turned off. The restaurant across the street got a delivery from a -tractor tailor truck on 5:30 am on Tue am and 6 am on Friday.
The small town of Mariposa was charming with plenty of good restaurant choices and a grocery and gas stations , so you can fill up before the one hour ride to Yosemite. This is the easiest drive into the park of all the entrances. We came back each evening from a long day of driving and hiking and enjoyed being able to walk to a different restaurant each evening.

Stayed at the Inn with family while traveling up to Lake Tahoe. The rooms are clean & great towels are provided, but super outdated. It is in a good location of the small western town. Although it is in the Bed & Breakfast category on Tripadvisor and other websites, it is far from a B&B. You never see a human being to check you into the Inn or out. An outside phone is provided where you have to call for any assistance. Due to the fact that it was found in a B&B category you automatically assume that additional perks would be provided, but you get NONE. It is comfortable to stay here, but not enjoyable. If you need a bed for one night and do not like to interact with human beings, this is the place to stay.

My husband and I can't praise this place enough! The stayed in the Bridalveil suite. It's a massive room with a long terrace, very large kitchen, with living and dining areas too. And private bathroom of course. It's serviced the same way a hotel would be, with maid service each day. You can walk straight onto the main street in Mariposa for bars and restaurants, and its a five minute drive to the supermarket.
We wanted to use a pool one day (the Inn doesn't have one) so I rang Patti, the owner, and she arranged for us to go and use another hotels pool. Nothing is too much trouble for her.
If I come back to Yosemite I would stay here again, it was such a pleasure.
Try Betti's Gold Coin bar and Charles Street Diner, both really good.

The room itself was excellent for a family of four. Would have liked a few more horizontal surfaces in bathroom. We really liked the keyless coded entry. Plenty of space for the luggage. There is no on site office but that was not a problem. Mariposa has a liquor store, gas, several great dining options. Only an hour from the front gate of yosemite, had no problem beating the crowds into the park up to glacier point and mariposa grove. Nice to come back to this hotel and mariposa after a day in the park. Room was very clean and air conditioning was great.

Room Tip: I've seen some complaints about the lights from the street and that issue does exist but the cur...
