This place is truly amazing! Apparently it used to be owned by Cheryl Ladd and is set back from the local roads up a dirt track, nestled in the forest. There were 6 of us so we took all three rooms and had the run of the house. The owner, Michael, was charming and lived in an attached annexe. The rooms are all large and well equipped with decent en suite bathrooms. There is a comfortable lounge area and games room as well as a fitness room and kitchen. Breakfast was fantastic with a wide range of foodstuffs available, prepared in the morning by visiting staff. If only we had booked more than one night! You will not forget this place - especially watching the Hummingbirds eating from the feeder by the window whilst having your breakfast... Magical.

Room Tip: All rooms are great.

The Highland House B & B is located in a lovely, rural area near Mariposa and Yosemite National Park. The entire facility is lovely and nicely appointed. The three bedrooms are very comfortable and each has a private bath. The full breakfast is just that, prepared by a local woman who arrives each morning abut 8 am. The entire experience was very pleasant. We plan to return.

This bucolic B&B is about 11 miles outside Mariposa, CA, the nearest town to Yosemite NP. We arrived later than we had planned due to a wrong turn and drove up to a dark house. Fortunately, we found keys in the mailbox and let ourselves in, where we found an envelope with our name on it which had the phone number of the manager, Lizzie. Come to find out, we had mistakenly arrived a day early which is why the place was locked. Lizzie came right over and since the place was empty we had the entire place to ourselves. The bedrooms are decorated nicely and the bed was VERY comfortable. The area was having a major heat wave, but air conditioner worked well and we were supplied with a fan as well, so we were very comfortable.

The next morning Nora made us a sumptuous breakfast and let us know that we could help ourselves to anything in the pantry or refrigerator. Also, we could use the kitchen for snack and lunch prep which was very welcome. The public areas include a game room with pool table, many areas to sit, read, watch TV, and enjoy the birds outside: we saw orioles, hummingbirds, wild turkeys, and many more. The only downside I might mention is that the mosquitos are plentiful, but no one should visit the area without being prepared with sunscreen & bug spray.

Highly recommend the Highland House!

Room Tip: If it's available, get the Forest Retreat. It's huge, with a king size bed and a fireplace. But all the rooms are lovely with their own good sized bathrooms.

Humming birds outside the dining room window and deer and wild turkey in the grounds. We had a wonderful stay here whilst visiting Yosemite. Breakfasts have to be experienced to be believed and the staff & the innkeeper looked after us royally. We cooked in on some nights, taking advantage of the well-stocked kitchen and after you can either watch one of what seems to be hundreds of DVDs or play pool on a full sized table.
Will have abiding memories of this wonderful place and will definitely stay again if we return to the area.

Room Tip: The more expensive room is huge with a fireplace, large bathroom & dual aspect. Worth the extra.

The Highland house inn was a comfy and great escape on our way back from Yosemite. Situated about 1.5 hours outside the park we arrived here in the evening. It is a lovely big house at the end of a very secluded and quiet street about 15 minutes drive from Mariposa. We got dinner in the town before heading up - I am not sure they cook or provide dinner at the house. lizzie cooked us a great breakfast in the morning. We had a great nights sleep and relaxed in the living room watching the humming birds outside in the evening. I would recommend this to anyone and rate it very highly as a b and b.
