“A not so pleasant stay”
Reviewed 21 June 2014

This hotel, for the money, was not worth staying at. The desk was not concerned that the T.V. did not work and after giving advice on how we might fix it, did not follow up and see if we could fix it on our own. We were able to finally get one channel.

I booked two rooms in this hotel for our first family trip to Yosemite. Turned out to be a decent place to stay but awfully expensive: but that's the price you pay to stay near a major attraction like national park.

The pros:

Clean rooms! I did my usual white glove test and it passed with flying colors! No musty carpet smell, no mold on the bathtub grout, no dust on top of the door frames. (Yeah, I check that.) Our daughter, her husband and Daisy the dog stayed in the second room: pets are permitted for a minuscule extra charge. There's a pool and a gym. And the hotel is within easy walking distance of the shops and restaurants in downtown Mariposa. Free breakfast with waffles, eggs, pastries, cereals, and real pork sausage—not those nasty veggie patties I've seen at other places.

The cons:

Expensive, but the proximity to Yosemite allows them to charge whatever the market allows and keep a decent occupancy rate. And although it's advertised as being on Yosemite's doorstep, you still have to drive 45 minutes to get to the park entrance. The free WIFI is a joke; it's as slow as molasses in January. And for an online addict, it's Purgatory.

As far as hotel stays go, this one was pretty good. But in retrospect I should have paid even a little more and stayed closer to or even in the park itself.

We stayed here after our reservation at the Hotel Jeffery in Coulterville went sour. After driving around trying to find vacancy, we located this little gem. The young man at the front desk was very sympathetic to our situation and booked us a room. The room was very spacious and clean. The breakfast was a nice surprise, and the hotel is in walking distance to a bunch of restaurants. If we ever make our way West again we would consider staying at this hotel.

We don't schedule our stops we get a room where ever we end up for the day. However you can always count on Best Western's for great service, clean rooms, good food. They are always close to out side services and give great recommendations were to eat in the local community. Over all this was a great top as we have never been to this area.

Friendly staff and clean rooms but not Best Western Plus. Very expensive for quality of room and amenities. Very loud fan in bathroom and terribly slow internet. Gym area located in storage room and pool area needs attention.

The room was clean; but that was about it. The check in was friendly, but slow. The included breakfast was mediocre. The Internet service was about as good as dial up service. It's generally at least an hour's drive to Yosemite from this location; but there are not too many other places that are closer, other than those within the park itself.

This motel is seemingly purely functional - check in the guests and then check them out. Very impersonal. Room was not ready at stated time and was unavailable until 1/2 hour later. No assistance with luggage, no elevator and only one (hidden) luggage trolley. So if disabled or unable to handle your luggage, ensure you ask for a room on the 1st or 2nd floor as access to rooms on 3rd floor require the use of a staircase. A non-functioning sink plunger in the wash basin was supposed to have been fixed by maintenance, and it was worse than when we had reported it faulty 24 hours later. We never managed to get the TV remote control to work. Why not put instructions on its operation together with the channel guide? Why is body wash/shampoo not provided? The hot breakfast was boring - every morning it was either round omelettes and sausage meat patties, or waffles. Surely something else could be offered in order to 'ring the changes'? On the plus side, the room was nicely decorated, there was plenty of storage space, the bed was comfortable and the provision of TWO luggage trestles was a bonus. Very disappointing and not up to BW + standard.
