“What a great spot!”
Reviewed 10 August 2014

I read about this place and made reservations about a month ahead for a Monday afternoon in July... all the tables were already taken but they put us on the waiting list. Monday morning we got the text saying there was a table available. What a great spot! It is BYOB with no corkage (for the picnic tables) and you can also bring all your own food (hot dogs, chips, etc for kids or friends who don't eat oysters). They provide lemons, sauces, gloves, a grill, shucking knives and shucking instructions. You shuck your own for $11/dozen... you cant beat that price! We had a WONDERFUL time and would recommend to anyone.

“Great oysters! Fun even if you don't!”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

Even on a windy foggy day, it was a fun lunch. Barbecued oysters are a must! And for those who don't like those, there was a great cheese plate, with amazing pickled golden raisins as a condiment, and lovely bread. Good beers, too!

“Shuck-your-own picnic on the bay”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

We had a great oyster picnic at this beautiful spot on a Thursday afternoon. During the week, you can order shuck-your-own oysters and sit at the communal picnic tables, no reservation required. I've heard this place gets very busy on weekends, but you can reserve tables with grills in advance.

We picked up bread, cheese, preserves and a bottle of rose at Tomales Bay Foods in Pt Reyes Station. There is also a snack bar at Hog Island if you prefer to order items there, with lots of great foods from local producers. The $5 per person picnic fee includes gloves, shucking knife and condiments. Our delicious oysters (a dozen Sweetwaters and a dozen Kumamotos) were about $15/dozen.

“Just the Wrong Time at the Right Place”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

We had heard of this place and planned to eat oysters there on our way up the coast to Santa Rosa. We stopped. I guess we hit it on the wrong day at the wrong time. There were limited options for eating and some oysters were not available. We passed and went on up a mile or so north and ate at Nick's Cove. Maybe next time.

“Beautiful Place”
Reviewed 25 July 2014 via mobile

Beautiful setting- everyone there very friendly. We bought 2 dozen oysters with the picnic fee, total $35. Bring your own drinks. You will sit at picnic tables and most likely share the table with other folks.
