This little motel looks so very retro from the outside. The rooms are interesting with tile floors, although ours had an area rug also. Unfortunately the rug was stained. The furniture is more like a modern home than a motel & interesting. Wiring for TV ran uncovered up by the door frame. The price was right however, much cheaper than most in the area. When we asked the front desk clerk for refills on the breakfast items, he was very quick to comply. Be aware that you are close to the motocross track, this is a good thing if you are racing, but there may be quite a few racers staying there too and there will be some noise later in the morning as the racing starts. We would stay here again in the winter months, but would miss having a pool in the hotter seasons.

I'd stay here again the next time I need to visit nearby family. It's not a place to hang out in for any length of time since there is nothing around to do, but it serves its purpose well -- a place to sleep and shower. It was very clean, great water pressure in shower and comfortable beds. Window cooler was finicky (aren't they all?) and the refrigerator made enough noise that we had to turn it off to get to sleep. When we returned from a late dinner, there were a few large grain-type trucks parked along the inside edge of the guest parking which we didn't give much thought to. Then, at 4 am, we were awakened by their engine rumble and 'beeping' as they must have been backing up to work their way out of the lot. Next time we visit we'll ask for a room in the back, if they are done renovating those, so we can get a quiet night's sleep. The continental breakfast was also clean and nicely presented---mostly grocery store pastries, bagels, fruit, etc. but that's what we eat at home so hit the spot.

Room Tip: Ask for room away from street & check fridge noise before settling in.

I am ending a 3 week stay at the Rio while I was waiting for my house to close. People who have complaints are not considering what they are paying. No, they don't have five star rooms, plush comforters or deluxe breakfasts. You may find that somewhere at twice the price. But if you're looking for a good, safe place to stay with big screen LCD tv, refrigerator, free wifi and coffee, juice, waffles etc for breakfast, you will pleased with this place. I'd stay again in a heartbeat.

I booked this hotel due to Tripadvisors rating. We were very disappointed. Wish I had stayed elsewhere. The staff was excellent, but that is the only thing that is good about this hotel. I understand that they are trying to shake the previous owners reputation, but they still have a ways to go. The beds had NO blankets! Just a thin sheet and the bedspread, I was freezing all night. Finally got up and put my wool coat over my bed for some warmth. The heater works fine, but I need a blanket on my bed. The wool carpeting looked like it had not been vacuumed, there were pieces of (?) left on the floor from the previous visitor. The shower had so many patches and the room smelled of fresh paint. Sort of nauseating after a while. The location is right next to the freeway, and even though they had rooms in the back they gave everyone the rooms that were closest to the highway... makes no sense to me. So the breakfast that people were raving about was not edible. We went out to breakfast instead... I was disappointed to say the least. I will not be staying here again... they have some work to do.

We found ourselves between two homes and in the escrow from hell! We were moving from Yuba City to Elk Grove and decided on a enduring some seedy cheap motel to save money. We saved money alright because of the great weekly deal we were given, but there was nothing to endure. What we got was a lovely clean well decorated room with clean towels daily and clean sheets and great housekeeping service. We even got coffee and wonderful waffles! The staff was very friendly. professional and accommodating. The Rio Inn and Suites had to be our home for several weeks, but it was a great in between homes to stay at!!! We highly recommend the Rio Inn & Suites!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At initial glance, looks like another cheap value inn, but the room looked like a 3+ star hotel with nice TV, refrigerator, microwave, elegant bed, sheets, blanket and all modern amenities including fast wifi internet. The complimentary breakfast was more than just a cup of coffee and a quarter muffin. They had eggs, cereal, oatmeal, waffle maker, toast, bagels w/cream cheese, orange juice and various fruits! Worth the stay.
