My mother, husband and I stayed in two rooms at the McCloud Mercantile Hotel - GG's Attic & the Minnesota room. They were both great, the only slight drawback being the lack of a closet in GG's Attic. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are large and modern. The whole place in quiet and peaceful. All the rooms are upstairs above a combination of stores & restaurants. Breakfast is at the restaurant downstairs where the food is great with large servings. There's coffee and hot drinks available in the common area. The host was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We spent an afternoon just touring the local historical museum and sitting on the front porch of the Mercantile Hotel. It was very restful and peaceful.

Amazing view, incredible room (Charles Miller room) in a very unique establishment. The huge whirlpool tub was to die for, and all linens were top-of-the-line! Breakfast was great and the cafe/espresso bar served all organic and fresh items. Loved this place, can't wait to come back.

Great place to stay! We stayed in GG's Attic. The room was large and comfortable. Everything was very clean! The owner was very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts are HUGE so you may want to think about splitting an order. When you are in the area, be sure to visit the lavender farm that is just outside of town. Very quaint!

Incredible design and detail everywhere...we stayed in the Arts & Craft room and loved it. The bathroom in huge, as is the main bedroom! Fantastic modern claw tub as well as one of the best showers anywhere. Dark, cool and delightful. Includes breakfast in the cafe and the gal there makes the most amazing scones and granola imaginable! Friendly innkeepers, great views of Mt Shasta and nearby hikes to waterfalls. Perfection!

Had the opportunity to stay at this lovely little hotel for a quilting retreat. What a pleasant surprise! The decor reflects the past but the infrastructure is very modern. The blend works perfectly.

Thanks very much to Darlene and Kevin for providing such a stellar lodging experience. I will definitely refer the McCloud Mercantile Hotel to anyone visiting the Mt. Shasta area.

My family (husband and 1 child) and I stayed one night here in Sept 09. Absolutely stunning room - The owners have an incredible eye for design. We stayed in the Shasta-Wintu suite. My only comment is that it was a tad dark (but romantic, nevertheless) and because there isn't a TV or anything, if you are being quiet you can hear what's going on in the rooms next to you. We were simply talking (not yelling) and the people in the room next to us came over and told us that they could hear everything we were saying. We had to whisper after that, but it made things a little awkward. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud - we had such a wonderful night sleep. Room has an extra little single bed for a third person (or child). It has the most incredible bathtub, so I had to take two soaks in it during our stay. Included with our room was a breakfast at the cafe in the Mercantile - good food and again, they have spared no expense in making the restaurant look very authentic to the turn -of the-century style and so welcoming. I would stay here again and again!
