Headlands Inn Bed & Breakfast

just spent a beautiful night in the front room on the first floor...it is everything you want in a b & b and although we normally enjoy the conversation around the breakfast table the breakfast in the room concept was a life of luxury not to mention that the food was the best we had at all the b & b's we stayed in on our vacation...the inn is smack in the middle of the town and a morning walk around the coastal path was only a block away

there are several inn's in the neighboring area and many looked nice, but i truly can't imagine that any would be nicer than the headlands...we will return and bring along some friends to share the experience

My husband and I and several friends spent the weekend at the Headlands Inn and all had a wonderful time. Since we were using several rooms I got to see them and they were all comfortable, warm and welcoming. The rooms, common areas and gardens were clean and the attention to detail appreciated. The staff was friendly and helpful and went out of their way to make our visit special. We all enjoyed the afternoon sherry, tea and cookies in the parlor, and the delicious and delightfully presented breakfasts in our rooms. The weekend will be fondly remembered. Can't wait till I return.

We decided to make Mendocino the North end of our trip from San Francisco driving up the pacific coast highway. We're definitely glad we did. Plan most of the day for a liesurely drive. We stopped and toured Muir Woods and stopped at one of the small town general stores along the way for a late lunch. Other than that we stayed on the go for most of the trip. The beautiful views and diverse landscape of this coastal drive are well worth it. When you reach Mendocino it's like finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. This small coastal victorian town is like stepping into an alternate universe, a quiet, peaceful, universe with breathtaking views.

We decided on the Headlands Inn as the place to stay for our one night before heading inland the next day toward Sonoma. We're very glad we did. We were met by the inn keeper who gave us a quick tour and suggestions for dinner. After unloading our bags we settled into the Wilson room and relaxed with a few sips of Sherry and some cookies. We walked up the street a couple of blocks to the pub for dinner. The food was very good and a couple of Kilt Lifter brews is just what we needed to wash it down with.

After a brief stroll around town back at the inn we found the fireplace with it's prepared wood and starting material to be the perfect addition for a romantic evening. The bed was very comfortable and leaving the bathroom window open a couple inches let in the wonderful evening air and aroma of the flowers all around the property. After a deep nights sleep (we sure didn't experience any ghosts), I was up for a walk along the headlands just a block in front of the inn. After the morning walk breakfast was delivered to the room right on schedule. The breakfast was delicious and with a small snack mid-day was enough to get us to dinner.

If we ever make it to Mendocino again we won't even think about staying anywhere else, other than maybe trying a different room!

we spent three nights in this welcoming Victorian.....breakfast , served in the room, was huge and delicious.....afternoon sherry, tea and cookies in the parlor...rooms are well appointed, lovingly decorated, with woodburning fireplaces and very clean.....offers ocean view but is not too close to the main street., so was blessedly quiet....short stroll to the best restaurant in the area, Cafe Beaujolais....owner and staff friendly, efficient and gave us good recommendations for wineries and other attractions....admission to Ft Bragg Botanical Gardens included with our reservation...we had the John Barry room, our friends were in the Strauss, which is the largest...both couples were mightily pleased; we'd stay again!

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful (albeit short) time at this B&B. We were later than we had hoped to be driving up from SF, but they were more than accomodating for our late check in. The breakfast was amazing!

This B&B is probably the most friendly and charming I've been to. We stayed in the Barry room, which has incredible amounts of natural light, and a cozy window seat to read on. The bed was very comfortable, and is tucked right under a window, which I really enjoyed. Our room also had a fireplace, which we used both nights - when we checked in and the next morning firewood and kindling were stacked in the fireplace so we just had to light a match to get the fire going. Similar touches are really what made this inn so incredible. There is a parlor on the second floor with games, water, wineglasses and corkscrews (being in wine country) and sherry that is available all the time. "Tea and Cookies" is also everyday from 4-7 pm and the cookies are wonderful. How relaxing to be able to go get a cup of tea, homemade cookies and read a book upstairs.

The breakfasts are AMAZING. There is no common dining room, so your breakfast is brought up to your room every morning on a large tray. They ask your beverage preferences when you check in, and if you'd like a newspaper as well. One morning we got a variation on huevos rancheros, with a side dish of fruit and yogurt, and the other we got stuffed french toast with grapefruit halves on the side. I LOVED it - how amazing to have such great food cheerfully delivered to you, so you can eat at your own pace and in your PJs.

I will definitely come back to this inn if I'm back in the Mendocino area.

My girl friends and I celebrated our 50th, 60th, 70th, birthdays here. We were spoiled and pampered. Wonderful breakfasts delivered to our rooms was only the beginning of our several days there. Denise assisted us with making reservations for a wonderful limosine tour of local wineries. We had wonderfult walks to the ocean front town and a wonderful time shoping at the many charming stores. The weather was perfect. I would come back again and again.
