What an inspired idea to partner pizza and ice cream. What the name doesn't say is that there is also an excellent selection of craft beers and wine by the glass. Frankie's violates almost every rule of efficient restaurant design and the location seems almost intended to hide it from most tourists. The pizza is darn good and the ice cream is excellent. Service is at the counter and the staff is very friendly and cordial. Outside seating is really nice on sunny days, which have been unseasonably common during this winter of drought. One of the features (as computer designers refer to a program bug) is a series of unexpected steps up and down as you move through the place. Keep your eyes open. Main minus is a public bathroom that requires a sense of humor to use. Prices are moderate for Mendocino, a little pricey for visitors used to fast food. Overall, a great place to relax from a gallery overdose.
