“Amazing Inn located in Mendocino.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 May 2011

My husband and I had a fabulous time at Brewery Gulch Inn this past Saturday through Monday. We were concerned that the weather would be inclement and it would be a long drive for just staying all day and night in the inn. Much to our delight the weather turned beautiful on Sunday, and we ended up not having enough time to just relax on the property. The staff have created a warm, welcoming place where a person, a couple, or family and friends could spend quality time with one another either by themselves or getting to know the other guests. Everything about Brewery Gulch was first rate, with the comfort of the guest in mind. It was so thoughtful to have homemade muffins or rolls, fruit, tea and coffee, fresh water and soft drinks available 24 x 7 as well as the use of refrigerators for any snacks or beverages that guests may bring on their own.

The food both at breakfast and "light appetizers" which was very easily a meal and served as dinner for me and my husband both nights was amazing. The flavors and the presentation is etched in my head and it was of the highest standards. They employ a remarkable chef. And it was fun to taste some of the local wines during the social hour.

I was also amazed at the quantity and quality of the books, magazines, the abundance of dvds, and the games and puzzles. I could spend a year at Brewery Gulch and still have more to enjoy. And best of all the puzzles and games looked like new and had all of the parts and pieces. It was fun starting a puzzle in the evening and waking up the next day to see the progress that some other guests had done. And with the rainy weather in the forecast, I left with a good start for the other guests to enjoy.

The staff set the mood for an enjoyable weekend of escape. They are knowledgeable of the area, polite, and seemed genuinely interested that we had a great experience, and we did.

I plan to stay at Brewery Gulch again when we have an opportunity to return to the area.

Room Tip: Try to stay on the second or third floor.

We visited this Inn under the previous ownership and were thoroughly pleased. It's good to know that the new owner, Guy, is as passionate about the place and hospitality. It's pretty rare to stay at a place and not find some tiny room for improvement, but that's not the case here. Every detail is perfect from the grounds to the rooms to the incredible food . The staff is gracious and helpful. We will always return to Brewery Gulch.

We spent nights here for our honeymoon. Every detail was so special, we were delayed in our flight and arrived at our room to find a plate of food and bottle of wine left to welcome us. The room was so romantic, we enjoyed the cosy fireplace, the beautiful patio view of the ocean and the huge bathtub for two.

The Inn arranged a amazing wine tour for us and assisted us with maps for a local hike. They also assisted us with our night of dinner out, we did not need to eat out the other night as the inn offers an amzaing wine hour with food and local wines and beers. I will end the review talking about one of the best parts the beautful inn, other than the very helpful staff, the amazing breakfast that was included. It was so yummy! Thank you Brewery Gulch!

Room Tip: We stayed at the Raven room and loved it

BGI exceeded all our expectations! As far as we're concerned, it's the best thing about Mendocino. It has a rustic cabin-like feel but with plush accommodations--fireplace, comfy bed, clean, soothing, minimalist decor, and Molton Brown bath products. The great room has plush leather furniture, a huge fireplace, a great dvd library, and coffee/tea/sweets. Outside the huge glass doors, you can sit on the patio surrounded by wonderful plants and trees, look at the teal blue ocean and rocky cliffs, and birdwatch. Out front you'll encounter turkeys and deer ever evening. The breakfast is superb but what really impressed us was the evening reception. The gourmet selections are delicious and plentiful and they are generous with the wine and beer as well. Do yourself a favor and plan to make it back in time for this wonderful experience. We met several couples from the CA are and even one from FL who told us they come back to BGI year after year. We will be returning someday for sure!

We traveled the Northern California coast to celebrate our 25th anniversary. The moment we drove up the driveway, we knew our stay at the Brewery Gulch Inn was going to be memorable! From the delicious light supper with wine or beer to the multiple choices for a scrumptious breakfast, the two provided meals were wonderful. In addition, there was coffee, tea, hot chocolate and ice water, together with something sweet, for between meal snacks. We appreciated the large "go cups" so we could take coffee when we left to sightsee for the day. The great room is, well, "great" and where meals are served. We stayed in the Manzanita room - loved the cozy sitting area by the fireplace, the view from our private deck, the super comfy bed, and the oh so relaxing two person jacuzzi tub. Although we were too tired to indulge, there were tons of DVDs we could have watched. Our two nights at the Inn were just not enough; we'll be back!

Room Tip: Manzanita is 1st floor; we had noisy people above.

We stayed two days at this beautiful inn on the Mendocino coast and could have stayed for two months, it was that wonderful! Fabulous location, beautiful accommodations, extraordinarily good food (cooked to order gourmet breakfast, 5:30 food and wine which was sumptuous enough to be our dinner!), the friendliest hosts, and most luxurious deck overlooking flowers and the sea. Simply heaven. We will be back!

My boyfriend and I stayed for two nights in the Pine Room and loved it. I'll start with the gracious, accomodating staff and move on to the comfortable, immaculate room with jacuzzi and heated bathroom floor, his/her robes, and complimentary champagne for my birthday. Then there was the food - heavenly! Breakfast came with the room, and it was far beyond the average continental fare with a choice of at least five full meals. Since the inn is classified as a bed and breakfast, they technically don't serve dinner, but the late-afternoon buffet that came with room was easily a meal unto itself with a choice of four hot meat and vegetable dishes - one night we were served roasted quail with asparagus - and a selection of local beer and wine. There was sufficient food that it was unnecessary to venture out for dinner.

A selection of in-house reading, games, DVDs, and a highly entertaining bird feeder easily compensated for the fact that the inn is on the very southern edge of Mendocino. We didn't miss the town a bit as we were quite comfortable where we were and spent our evenings just relaxing.

The meals and atmosphere combined with the beautiful grounds and proximity to the beach makes the Brewery Gulch Inn one of the best values I've ever seen in an inn. We had a very relaxing stay and will definitely be returning. Not only was the food and the service top quality, but it was all for a very reasonable off-season price.
