“Great food, amazing service and poor ambiance!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 June 2013

I was recommended by the concierge at the Rosewood. The restaurant is located in a mall in the middle of the road close to a gas station.
so if you are targeting a high end place, this is not your place. But if you are into great quality fish and amazing service, this is the place to be.
the place is very quiet but people are very friendly and they hear to what you want.
I was solo and wanted great sushi. my goals were very much accomplished.

“Tasty Japanese small dishes”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 May 2013

Though we'd been unfamiliar with Kaiseki-style Japanese food--we are big sushi fans--our friends wanted to try this relatively new restaurant in an upscale strip mall in Menlo Park. Kaiseki dishes are the equivalent of Japanese tapas in portion-size but in this case, they are served in an 8-course, pre fixe dinner with a couple of additional little chef's goodies in between the set courses. The presentation of each dish was lovely and the taste totally delightful. Most courses were quite different from what we typically eat in a sushi restaurant though some of the fish was familiar. The 2 men in our party each had their own dinners, but the 2 of us women shared 1 dinner and ordered 1 extra a la carte dish that sounded intriguing (though unnecessary since we were pretty full without it). The atmosphere is simple and calm. The wait staff is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. An evening to repeat in the not too distant future.
