Amazingly fresh and well cooked fish. Low key atmosphere, order at counter, and food is brought to your table. Love the thick tasty fries, and fish is always cooked to perfection.

Great place for a casual quick neighborhood dinner - or lunch. There are good salads on the menu, if you want to watch your waistline or have a lighter meal.

Also am a customer of Cooks Seafood buying fresh fish to take home to cook several times a week.

This is my second time having dinner at Cook's Seafood My husband and I had a 2 piece fish and chip dinner with cold slaw. Our total was $21. You order at the counter and they bring it to you. The fish was perfectly cooked. The fries were the thick/steak fries. The cold slaw was excellent; not too mayonnaisey and a touch sweet with carrots.

I've probably been to this restaurant a hundred times. It is consistently outstanding! The local halibut and chips is a real favorite as is the mixed crab and shrimp louie salad. The fish, no matter what the preparation, is super fresh and this is the basis for everything good that goes on here. The restaurant is twinned to a fresh seafood market that is simply a natural wonder of Menlo Park. How did such a fine market and restaurant end up in dumpy, planning-department -retarded Menlo Park? it's a legitimate question as the knuckleheads who run planning for city of Menlo Park seem to think that 20 different thrift shops and 30 different oriental rug stores is the height of urban planning. So sad.

But then there is Cooks! It is an oasis. Whatever the technique that is used to fry the fish (oil, temperature, time, batter and etc.) is simply amazing as time and time again they nail the fish and chips perfectly. And on a Friday afternoon, what could be better than fish and chips? Actually, one small thing: they should add several craft beers on tap and this will explode more than it already has.

The staff here is very consistent with litter turnover and they are all alot of fun and usually are smiling as they crank out meal after meal. All in all this is a must go to spot in the foodie desert that is Menlo Park.

I stop in occasionally for some chowder (tasty) and some fish & chips (very tasty), but mostly I come to Cook's to buy oysters, local crabs, and other seafood to take home and prepare myself. Fresh high quality seafood handled by professional fishmongers. Always clean -- never a fishy smell like some places and the product doesn't taste like refrigerator the way it can sometimes at Safeway and Whole Foods. The line for crab goes out the door and into the parking lot during the holidays.

Very fresh, high quality cod or halibut expertly deep fried is what to expect at this combo fish and chips restaurant and seafood market. Nothing fancy but great fish & chips plus a few average cold seafood salads.
