“Best place to eat after a hike in Yosemite!!!”
Reviewed 20 January 2012

I spent 3 months living in Mariposa, CA. I bought an annual pass to Yosemite Park and every time I went hiking or climbing I ate at the Bug Cafe. It's a place that makes you feel at home and every meal I had was fantastic. The menu changes and it's always great. Don't let the word Cafe fool you, it's lodge-like setting is warm and inviting. Sit by the big fireplace or eat next to the windows that overlook the wonderful mountainside and trees. Truly a great place and great staff.

“Excellent rustic Yosemite experience”
Reviewed 31 December 2011

Food was very well made, each meal we had was made fresh, portions were ultra generous and so tasty. Choice was brilliant and option to pay by card is useful. The Bug also provides a packed lunch for any trekkers visiting the park - recommend purchasing this on the morning you go as it was a godsend to tuck into on our walk up to the Waterfalls.

“Bug is a good name for it”
Reviewed 29 December 2011

The staff do their best with what they have to work with, which isn't much. The price is higher than almost any of the places to eat within ten miles. Dogs are welcome inside the cafe. This may be fine if you don't mind pet hair where you are eating.

“not what it used to be, so disappointing”
Reviewed 9 November 2011

Simply magical setting , but we won't be going back for dinner, ever again. The Bug Cafe used to be one of our favorite places, we LOVED it. As of late their dinner prices have skyrocketed, and we could almost live with that except they still don't offer even a semblance of service to go with their new $$$ prices. The surly British blond still takes your order, with her short abrasive attitude and they have not changed their, " we can't be bothered with even the smallest substitution or request of any kind." Their counter cafe model of ( serve yourself & absolutely no substitutions attitude) made sense when their cafe-style dinner prices were very reasonable, but now their dinner entree's begin at $18.00 so their attitude is no longer acceptable. We literally sat outside in the dark, like we were in a closet, because they couldn't obviously be bothered to place candles on outside tables and inside was packed with screaming kids from a bus tour. We will not be going back for dinner again ever.
