“great quality still there!”
Reviewed 12 January 2014

Hadn't been here in over a decade (I don't live in CA) and got the chance to return on a business trip - the quality is still there for this Cantonese dining and dim sum restaurant (not sure the specific times they serve dim sum), and really a Millbrae institution.

This time I had the beef with Chinese broccoli - incredibly tender beef and crisp Chinese broccoli; both cooked just right. Also generous portion size and full service.

Very convenient for the Airport Blvd and Bayshore Highway hotels (where there are surprisingly few eating spots, other than hotel restaurants) - just take Millbrae Avenue straight west 3 minutes to El Camino Real. It's at the SW corner of this intersection. Can't think of a better Chinese restaurant in this area. Recommend.

“30 year patron”
Reviewed 22 October 2013

This is a very popular and traditional Hong Kong (HK) restaurant that I have been going to for decades.
Food is very good traditional (portions are a bit small though).
Service is better than most Chinese restaurants.
Clean and fresh & live seafood make this place special

“Excellent lobster porridge”
Reviewed 19 October 2013 via mobile

We were on our way back to SFO airport and stopover to have lunch. We had the weekday special - lobster porridge for $25. The food left us breathless and the cooking was top notch. The porridge and the whole lobster was huge. Mouth watering, tasty and finger licking good. You must eat to believe and to taste Cantonese porridge at its finest.

“Back to the Top Again!”
Reviewed 8 October 2013

Once upon a time, this is THE Best and most successful Dim Sum / Cantonese restaurant in NoCal. Then about 10 years ago, the food became not so good and we quit going here since. About 3 years ago, we heard about its ownership change and decided to give it a try. Boy, the Dim Sum becomes delicious again! So we came back the following week, then again, and again. Most Dim Sum dishes are good but if you are hungry for Cantonese foods, I think the Lobster Stirred Fried with Yee-fu Noodles. It is $25 dish with a 1+ lbs. Live Lobster. You just cannot beat the price. And it is yummy!

“Very good/excellent example of Cantonese fine dining”
Reviewed 4 June 2013

For cantonese fine dining, this is one of the top places in the SF Bay Area. (Koi Palace is another one, perhaps a tad better.) This is not the place to go for your fried rice, won ton, chow fun or chow mein dishes (which they also serve). And don't even talk to me about sweet and sour spareribs and fried prawns. That is Americanized chinese food .

For authentic cantonese food, the Hong Kong Flower Lounge in Millbrae is a good stand-in for the real thing 6900 miles or so to the west. Recently, our family took in one of their special banquet menu, $499 for ten people. When you threw in the tax, tip and wine, we were up to about $70 per person. Not cheap, but still less expensive than french or european fine dining in the city.

What did we get? How about Shark's Fin Soup presented in a double boiled whole papaya to start with? It was original, at least for me, and the flavors melded very nicely. Another very nice dish was their braised abalone, very tender and flavorful. The peking duck was picked clean, and the steamed fresh fish was cooked perfectly. There was also a double lobster dish that everyone scarfed up, and a few others to complete the dinner. And their desserts are pretty good too.

Service was pretty good; I believe they changed our plates at least twice during the dinner, maybe three times.

There are of course cheaper options and single plate options. But this was a birthday splurge.
