Did the "hop around the Bay area" business trip this week, ended up in Milbrae across from SFO waiting for a flight out tomorrow morning. Found the El Rancho Best Western by chance and what a find! Owned and operated by the same family for 50 years, this place is a spic and span time capsule of a 60's motor court motel complete with palm trees and the underwater bar pool from the movie The Right Stuff"! Immaculate is too benign a word to describe the condition of the property, which has been updated with free wifi, 32' LCD tv, keurig coffee maker, a very clean and comfy bed and a nice desk area to get some work done. It ain't the ritz, but for $99 a night, it is a remarkable bargain with a free shuttle to SFO on call 24/7. Chalk up another great find to the "better lucky than smart" style of traveling.

We got the "park and fly" package for a 9am flight to Hawaii. The room we got was the farthest end of the property, right next to the railroad tracks. Very noisy-frustrating the night before a trip. We got to leave our car for 5 nights, which was great. The pick up at the airport was VERY slow. We waited about 30 mins after calling to get picked up. One van that circled the whole airport at 10:30pm. Then arriving at the motel was a very disorganized drop off.
We will be trying a different hotel for the park and fly again,

Thanks for letting us know about the problems with the timing of your pick-up from the airport and the noise issue from your room. We expect to have guests back to their room or cars for their trip home in a timelier manner. We will review our shuttle staffing and schedules to make improvements. We are also continuing our renovations to soundproof rooms to reduce noise.
Sorry that we did not meet your expectations.

We live a couple hundred miles from a big airport, so when we travel, we sometimes look for a park and fly hotel. El Rancho Inn delivered a good deal, combining a clean, well-appointed room and hyper-organized park and fly system (up to 10 days parking included). We were pretty surprised at how comfortable our smallish room was, with a nice firm bed and two pillows each (one marked 'firm' and one 'soft!). The van to the airport was timely on both ends of our trip, and was probably about a 20 minute ride. I would give this hotel a 5 star except it's close to the train tracks, has many, many rooms that may vary in unknown ways to me, and it is just a large, dolled up motel. Clearly, I recommend it.

Room Tip: I have not seen the interiors, but I think I would stay away from the 3 or 4 story satellite buildings on this expansive campus. Ask for a room in one of the two-story buildings near the restaurant, away from El Camino Road.

This is a large motel (2 floors) with outside entrance to room. I stayed in the back of the hotel although I wouldn't recommend because I did here the train throughout the night. The room is nice appointed with flat screen TV, nice bedding, and plantation shutters. This is an older motel, but it has been refurbished. The bathroom was too small. Just enough room for shower and toilet. To close the bathroom door, you must maneuver yourself around. The vanity is outside in sleeping room, so if you like your privacy, you don't get much here. There is a coffee maker which is always nice. The continental breakfast starts at 4:30 a.m. so it's great if you have an early flight! It's located in the bar area of the restaurant in the middle of the complex. The room was also nice appointed with an array of "wrapped" muffins, croissants, egg tart? (ask to heat up in microwave), cinamon rolls, fruit, bagels, and coffee/tea and juice. Nice to grab and go if you would like it later on. The town has a little downtown shopping area with a few nice restaurants, but mostly asian. A nice little area to walk around in. I'd use this hotel again, but ask for a quieter room.

Room Tip: Probably on 2nd floor away from trains in the back of the hotel.

We booked this hotel for two nights and didn't arrive the first night until about 1:30 am. There were police at the front of the building so we asked about it when we checked in. No big deal we were told, just pulling over a drunk driver. Lady at desk was not friendly. We headed to our room in the 700 building, which was quite a walk. The door on the outside tells you to be sure to bar the door when you go in. There were more police dealing with a situation right behind our building. Didn't feel safe at all. Room was filthy. Something all over the curtains and the carpet was disgusting. The bathroom door had to be forced shut as it hit the toilet. The beds smelled and the whole room reeked. Ive never been so disgusted. The breakfast can hardly be called that. Needless to say we ate the money we already paid for the second night and stayed elsewhere. By the way the noise was brutal.
